IH 584 Hydraulic problem

I have a hydraulic noise from my 584 - sounds like it is blowing over a relief valve. I have tried to isolate the problem by bypassing the steering and 3 point linkage circuits. I therefore think the problem is in the main valve block where the filter is. I have changed the filter. The problem started after the tractor was split to fix the torque amplifier so I suspect something wasn't put back together correctly or some debris has been dislodged. The main hydraulic valve was not touched when the TA was fixed.

Can anyone help

Sorry - this is duplicate of one I posted yesterday - I thought it didn't post but I have now found it.

I can't help with specifics on that tractor, but generally speaking...

There are 2 types of pumps, 2 types of systems.

A fixed displacement pump uses open center valves. When there is no demand on the system, the fluid freeflows through the valves and back to the tank. With this system look for a valve that has not centered, a line connected wrong, anything that would dead head the flow forcing oil past the relief valve.

A variable displacement pump uses closed center valves. The pump holds pressure but the volume drops to only the amount needed to maintain the pressure. With this system look for a problem with the pump control, relief valve, internal leak.

I know, vague assumptions, but maybe something to look for.

Have you posted on the International board below?

Not sure if this made it yesterday but if all functions works it's the last valve in the chain before sump.

I seem to recall the 584 has only a single open centre pump and hits a steering priority valve first, then a mcv valve then taps off for a loader if you have it, then remotes and 3 point hitch last? I don't have that order down for certain.

When someone comes to me saying they have a problem with their vehicle or tractor I always ask if they had some work done on it recently. I'm not that familiar with a 584 but I would look for some hydraulic line that may have been cross threaded when the tractor was put back together. Maybe there are some metal lines they had to disconnect when splitting the tractor.
