I took your advice and got some Mothers alum polish for my truck tanks. Yes, the stuff works real good buuut I'm not sure I like the results. Before polish they were oxidized and faded uniformly. After
polish you can see the milling marks and flaws in the alum. Not sure if I like that look.

How much of an area is it? Scratches can be sanded out and the metal buffed to look like polished chrome. Lots of elbow grease though.

Try Zephyr 40. Works like wax, apply it wit a rag, let it dry and wipe it off. It's that easy, won't beat your arms up rubbing hard with this stuff. I have tried it all and won't anything but this. I do all my rims, steps and fuel tanks on my truck and trailer with this.

It's not me in the video, but you can see how easy it is to use and how well it works.

"milling marks and flaws". What did you expect - perfection from a polishing product ? You could wet sand (with fine paper) or buff out with polishing grit, then polish. Just sayin'.

IVE POLISHED some pitted and rough Alum. It can be sanded out. depends on how rough it is to what grit paper you would start with. but you end with 5000 and then go to mothers. I didn't start wet sanding till i get up to 500
