OT: Johnny B Goode

I can remember as a little kid listing to My Ding a Ling. That was a funny song. I watch alot of rock and roll documentaries and must bands in the 60s were inspired by Chuck.

I thought of that "Dingaling" song yesterday...

We took our grandson to the nature center, they had some snapping turtles in a display.

Started singing it to my wife, she poked me, told me to stop, I was embarrassing her! LOL

Dang 4520,
Now I REALLY feel OLD!

My Ding a Ling was hot when I was in college in 1973 to 1976 ????

Embarrassing! Heck I bet if that came on the radio right now, I could sing every word. Now that's embarrassing!

Well not to make you feel older but I was not born yet when it came out. I had an old AM radio in the basement where I played with my farm toys and they played this song alot. I wonder if they play list was not the same every night? I know that song was coming up right after back in the USSR was played.

His concert touring was interesting- didn't travel with a band- just himself and his guitar, by plane. "His people" would get in touch with a local rock and roll promoter when the show was booked, to have him get together a band of locals who could play Chuck's songs. Chuck's contract called for him being picked up at the airport in a Cadillac- took him to the venue, he walks in with his guitar a bit before the show, does a little practice with "his" new band, then its showtime. After the show, the Caddy (which has been standing by) takes him to his hotel, then next day he flies to the next city on the tour.

I always liked his song "Memphis, Tennessee". A lot of groups played that song over the years.

Kruser, I heard the ding a ling song played in a bar when I was in college about 12 years earlier than your experience. The band was pretty good.
