All I have found on these two small tractors. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about these? I know one is a Continental mfg Super 8, and the other is a huffy 5 hp 24" cut riding mower. These things are tiny!! I am going to rebuild, refurb, repaint. I guess just wondering how rare? If anyone has any idea about them? Thank you for your consideration.

When I saw the first pic I thought they were pedal toys. That's awesome! Sorry I don't have any answers for you, but hope you'll post some pics once they're done.

Those are just as cute as a bug! I don't think I'd repaint the sheet metal on the Huffy- I think it will clean up pretty nice, and the white "grill" on the front is going to be tough to duplicate. "They're only original once!"

And whys that? Maybe he got them for free. I think its funny how your so quick to make that statement. I think if they could be got running easily he definitely make something on them. I think they are neat. Id buy one for sure.

They would be rare just because very few collected them. So the majority of the ones produced got scraped when better mowers came along. They would be neat to take to shows and such but they would not be a high value item even restored. I see these type of mowers sell at collector sales and they rarely bring more than a few hundred at the best.

(quoted from post at 22:09:36 not looking to get rich. And thank you for your input on the paint job. I may take your advice on the huffy. The continental is actually a lot easier. It has stickers so I will probably go through that one am door bring it back. The huffy, is actually painted! Lol

At sales I go to on a good day neither would break a hundred and on a bad day they'd go in the dumpster with no bid. Many GT and regular restored tractors for sale for less than the
cost of the parts that were put on them.

Because even if they were free the cost of restoration could still easily exceed the value of the restored mower.

Its like restoring cars or tractors. Very often the cost of the restoration exceeds the value of the restored car or tractor - before you even ad in the purchase price. It kills me to see people trying to sell their old Malibu or Camaro "that needs restoration" and then ask half the restored value as the sales price for their POS. The only people that make money on "restorations" are the people being paid to work on them.

I've seen a few of those at farm sales some bring a dollar or two. A lot of times they are given to the scrap man to haul off. Good luck with them they will be fun to get going.

I would say that $469.95 is a mid 60s price? They both look like a
26"mower that go a steering wheel and a seat glued on. I have seen a
few around but they really are not considered lawn tractors, just
mowers. It is crazy how much experimental stuff has been built over
the years. Another thing. That Huffy is all silk screened. Good luck
trying to redo that one. A whole lot of painters cut tape and some
very precise measuring might do a pretty good job. Have fun playing
with them. Watch out for the "Restore stuff " bug.

I have made stencils copying silk
screening like that. Takes some time
but it can be done. Take the hood off
and position it so the silk screen is
facing up tape your thin paper over
it, relax and start tracing.helps to
lightly sand the silk screening first
to smooth it.

I have one that looks a lot like what you have pictured but it is a Western auto brand mower. At one time I used it to mow lawns for a condo place and made some good $$ doing so. I filled the rear tires with fluid so as to get better traction and it did help a lot.

I will probably restore the continental. I got both for free. The huffy will probably become a racer. It is a nice low start already. Will more then likely keep the original paint and rat rod it. Thank you all. Please feel free to come t further. I know there are people out there that have more questions.

I think the tires in the pictures look like hard rubber. So adding fluid might be tough to do.

Old, how much fluid were you able to add to a tire that size ?

As other have said, i've seen them at local farm sales, usually bring well under $20.00. I admit I've brought a few home--phase I went through. First one was Montg Wards at estate sale, they wanted to get rid of the leftovers--it had been a long day. Seven bucks. Tickled pink when I got it home and up and running and it actually cut the grass. Ive held onto a couple, hang them from ceiling of my shop as "art pieces." Here is what I find especially funny about these little tykes: The makers decided to put full-size steel tractor seats on many of them--I guess to mentally "Boost" the horsepower or sax appeal in the minds of the people who bought them new.

Cannot say for sure since that was maybe 20 years ago. If I where to guess maybe a gal or 2. Ya not all that much but when your mowing on hills ever little bit helps and on this old mower with out the fluid I could not go up some of the hills but with the fluid I could. Before I put the fluid in I would spin out before I reached the top but after putting in the fluid I could make it to the top

Is that transmission the old 1 forward one reverse type or it it the 3 speed forward one reverse?? Also does the seat mount to the top of the transmission?

and I totally understand what you are saying about they have no value, I got them for free. So the way I see it just a fun time!

it is one forward one reverse, on both, the seat has a mounting bracket that goes over the transmission, on both. The continental(which is the smaller one), has no brakes! Lol they were crazy back then!!!

The ones in ad were also sold as Mustangs. Painted yellow hood/seat white body. Had one in 70s. Think made in Odessa Mo.
