IH 424 power steering add-on

Hey guys seen a few forums on here about aftermarket kits for power steering. Has anyone had any luck adding a kit to a 424 gas tractor? Any help would be great thanks!

I assume the 424 is near the same British tractor as the B275 except the gas version has a USA engine. I have an aftermarket power-steering kit on my B275 that I bought for $25 on Ebay. I have no idea what company made it but it is specific for a British IH tractor and uses a power-cylinder built into the steering linkage and a belt-driven pump.

I saw a 424 gas tractor in a salvage-yard with factory power-steering, so you might get lucky and find something like that.

Thanks for the reply. Im not opposed to finding a parts tractor. Your setup looks nice but your steering sector more resembles my Ford 4000. In the 424 the sector is below the radiator. I'm thinking about using a torque generator.

Those steering boxes with a few years on them are not the strongest. A torque generator may not be the best thing for it.
This is the setup on my 434. Very little room to fit a belt driven pump without looking ugly or cutting the bonnet so I tapped in to the tractor system. Need a priority valve for the steering, plus a relief valve as the tractor delivers much more than the steering needs.
Works incredibly well, hardly notice a difference to the hydraulics even when using the loader.

Can provide more information if needed

Looks good. Thanks for the info. Going to have to do some more measuring and studying. No loader for now so it's not too terrible.
