Earthworm Tractors Movie

The post below on manufacturing companies got me to thinking about a DVD I sent away for years ago. I loaned it out to somebody and never saw it again unfortunately. The movie was called Earthworm Tractors and the main guy was an actor/comedian by the name of Joe E Brown, he was in a lot of stuff back in the day. Apparently, factory shots in that movie were filmed in the actual Caterpillar plant, maybe in Peoria, Illinois I think. Here's a Wiki link to tell you about it.

If you google the movie title on a You Tube link, you can watch the whole movie, it's just over an hour long. A bit corny by today's standards of films but a pretty neat story. I remember the salesman's favorite saying when answering a question about his product being something like .... "Well, sometimes yes and sometimes no" ..... ha, I guess that covered all his bases.

Not a big fan of Joe E Brown (I don't consider "stupidity" as funny) but recorded this movie on DVD. Is a good chuckle now and then.

Movie was on TCM a few days ago. Entertaining. Have probly seen it 10 times in my career. Joe E was a vaudeville guy and is pretty silly/funny - that huge mouth and the yell made him a nice life.

You also want to go on ebay and buy the book. Covers a whole bunch of his stories. They were origionaly in the Saturday Evening Post. Several hundred of them. Yes the movie is very goofy and the book is more serious. Well worth the read!
