I guess I'm missing something. I'm not seeing a button to just reply to a series of post. I just see the reply on someone else's post and then it quotes them unless I delete it all I'm on a apple device is this normal or am I just overlooking something

I'm relatively new as well. I just hit the "reply" button to respond to that particular topic. It's in upper right. But there is a section you can go to where the site's experts will respond to your question--and probably do a better job than I did. I use apple as well--generally in "modern view."

Yes, when using the Reply button, it creates a quote function, as above, but only with the previous poster's name and time of their post, not all the text. I usually just delete all that and start fresh.

If you choose Quote, you'll get all that plus the text of the quoted poster. You can edit as desired.

I think this phBB is an older platform (copyright 2005), plus there is the whole Modern View vs. Classic View issue. I am pretty sure the owners do the best they can, and am very glad they do. I wish the Edit function worked, but that is a small price to pay for such great information.

Welcome to the Bored, I also use Mac and Modern View.

I don't even delete that. It appears in the post when it first comes up, but then disappears on its own.
I also use the modern view.

Well, Rich, that explains the double space to start many posts. As you can see, it was there in my first reply, I even referenced it "as above". I wonder why it would change on it's own? Whatever. NBD
