General advice on re-painting Ferguson

Hello! I have a '54 Ferguson TO-30 with a Davis 100 loader and I am planning to do some re-painting this spring. I don't have much experience in painting tractors or implements so I am looking for any advice I can get! My plan is to take the loader off and paint that, which seems simple enough. However, painting the tractor itself intimidates me a bit. I am comfortable painting the sheet metal, rims, all the "easy" stuff that I can remove. However I am not sure about painting the chassis as I don't really want to have to take it completely apart. I also will probably not even bother with the engine. I am not doing a full restoration, I just want to give the old gal a nice new coat of paint. Is there anything I should know before I dive into it? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not a painter but I can tell you what I have done with good results. I have a TO35 that I have painted all of the cast iron with a brush after giving it a good power washing after spraying on degreaser. It turned out good and really didn't take that much time. By using a brush I didn't have to tape off the wiring, dist. cap, etc. I did have the hood and fenders painted with a gun. I have painted the cast iron with a gun before but I think a brush does just a good if not better. Brush marks won't show up on cast like they would on the hood, etc. My 2c.
