Working on a 2012 Volvo engine today. drop a Allen wrench down the engine while adjusting the valves. we assumed the wrench fell all the way into the oil pan and was located at the very back of the pan. Took a good magnet(aluminum pan) and found it was in the back of the pan. Used the magnet to pull it to the drain hole and pull it out. saved removing the pan.
Had no wrench to turn motor while adjusting valves so we released the brakes ,jacked up the one tire ,put it in high gear and used the tire to rotate engine
