If you look at the pictures you know as much as I know about it.
So, I know it could be scrap price to ?? Assuming this was a
working machine with no major issues, what would it be worth?
Besides the normal fluids, leaks, noises, cracks/welds etc. any
particulars to look for on this model?

That is a pretty good Case 580 CK backhoe. It looks in good shape for tis age. If it has a gas motor and is in good working order it can easily be worth the $6500-7500 range. I see beat up ones bringing $4000-5000.

I agree they are a prime mover in the Midwest. Very popular and most are likely in service. Your estimate is on target, unless it has a blown engine, or trashed hydraulics. Jim

It was apparently a toy not a tool. Looks like more time was spent waxing it than working it.

Here in the northeast it would bring between $3500 and $4500. I have bought and sold a few of them and even though that looks like it is in good shape the market for those rubber tired loader/backhoes is way down as everyone wants a min-excavator. The four wheel drive models still bring a good price but they have been dropping in price lately for the same reason. Happy farming.

What is the nearly vertical hydraulic cylinder that goes from the frame to the loader arms?

Wow, I used to run those things way back in the 1970's, employer had several of them and none looked any better than that one...That thing is
a jewel! They were a really good outfit in their day....a nice relatively light rig you could "jockey" into some pretty tight places like spot services
on new homes in tracts and very unlevel sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Of course the newer bigger ones will out work them now, but
they still are working in many areas.

I purchased this one in 2000 used and it was well used. I paid $7000 then.
