OT I do not get to do the fun work anymore

I am heading back from visit to my Phoenix office. The team there has some really fun projects, building robot to process solar cells for spacecraft, another for a metamucil plant, and two for making
semiconductor wafers. There used to be a time when I could do everything that anyone in company could do, but not anymore. It is kind of like being a proud parent now, and not the excited kid. I am
focusing mostly on working on the legacy systems that just are not worthwhile training staff on.
 
I've got a good renter he keeps things mowed and looking nice. The problem is i like to go play with the tractor once in a while .
 
Sounds like the last corporation I worked for. They had a legacy software system that did absolutely everything for them but was nearly impossible to interface with anything new. They had a hard time finding people who knew how to work on it. Blank screen interface. You had to keep a book of commands handy.
 
Sounds kinda like my farming- I was the muscle for Grandpa into high school, then did the heavy lifting for Dad. Now, when I get the kids to help I let them do the driving and I ride the hay wagon. Seems like I never get the fun part. Must be the old German delayed gratification mentality.
