I have a 4430 with syncro range transmission. I need to remove the hub from the end of the crank that drives the trans pump and holds the pilot bearing and replace it. Doea anyone know how to remove it and press in the new one?

Weld a nut to it that fits the threads on your slide hammer puller.

Make SURE the welder ground is attached to the crankshaft hub so welding current doesn't pass through the bearings.

Thanks Bob yea I meant pilot bearing I didnt proof read my post. What about pressing in the new one. I was thinkin about cutting a peice of plate using the fly wheel for a pattern. Then tightening the 4 bolts down on the plate to press it in. Would that work? Should I use lock tight or anything or just clean and dry?

I think you have a good idea on how to press it in. I haven't done DOZENS, but the ones I've done weren't too tough to get in place. Can't see any reason loctite would be a BAD idea.

Just use a flat driver to drive the new one in. As to locktite, I never do, but if you do, be sure to drive it in all the way before it sets up. And the next guy that needs to remove it might have some choice words for you.
