12v 18w led light question

We're doing work to our dump truck to make it
better for hauling silage. I have 2 18w led work
lights on order. I would like to possibly put one on
each side of the truck on the step pointing
backwards to make it safer at night when backing
up to the high dump in the field and also when
backing up the pile at the farm. The truck has a
backup light already I was wondering if it would be
ok since they're lower wattage to join onto the
backup light wire to run possibly 2 or maybe only 1
light? I'd like it setup that way so it comes on when
needed and goes out when not needed as not to
blind drivers following the truck because the switch
was left on accidentally.

I think you will like the LEDs
I put an 18 watt one on the back of my tractor cab for ploughing snow and can tell ya - it's
brighter then the two 4" seal beams on the front.
