O ring update...but...

Thanks all. After I understood that the 0 rings really did fit in there, despite their oversized looks, with some fiddin' around, they went in. Used the handle end of a dental pick & the hook end, very carefully. Then I looked over at the other side & they'd started leaking. Didn't leak last week & the NH was run last in November! Hasn't been cold enough to make'em go bad just sitting there, I wouldn't think. They're 18 years old. Guess its their time to go. Lucky I bought extra.

Thanks for the update, i am about to replace o-rings in a coupler also. Good to hear your story first.

I bought a set of 4 various shaped picks from Harbor Freight; I can't believe how often I use those tools for various things, especially with O rings. I bought another set so I have one set in the house and one in the garage.

Sounds like they're as much fun as the one that goes in after you slide the PTO shaft in to the big Olivers. You have to drop them in oil, then oil your finger to work them in. They're even worse in the 55 series and the Whites because they set back in farther than you can reach with a finger.

I also use dental picks to get the old ones out...picked them up at a surplus store years ago. Also handy as toothpicks while sitting at the workbench, pondering the next project!
