What is a uesd Kubota worth may I ask.

With in these past couple of months I have been storing some of my tractors at my friends ranch. for the past couple of days I have not seen him around his girl friend told me he got sick with cancer. So I starting to think what could I do for him. I am thinking about asking him if he wanted to sell one of his old Kubota tractors to me for some money. I have never had one and I bet I could fix them up. They probably are a nice tractor to have. I plan to stop by his ranch today get pictures of them and hope that I get great information on this site on prices to offer him.

I forgot to say he is an old man and settled in his ways. Some times guy's like us have to take his sarcasms and find humor in it. That is what I am use to him as a friend. He calls me the tractor guy who likes old tractors he might be shocked if I offered him money for what I call a newer tractor than what I own.

Well, you might want to start with what model Kubotas we're talking about here. Otherwise the range is $10-$10,000 because everyone's working blind here.

Keep in mind also that you may do more harm than good trying to "help" him in this manner. It may be a matter of pride to him and your gesture may be misinterpreted as trying to take advantage, ruining a perfectly good friendship. Especially, considering what you said about his personality.

I would leave it alone at this point. If they want to sell the tractors they will tell you.

Go to Tractor House and take 2/3 of what the average price for similar condition appears to be there.

They have a good reputation.

Parts for the older ones can be hard or expensive to find.

Know if it is a 'grey market' model - built for Japan, and imported used to USA, or a real USA model the grey market can be a bit harder to find parts for, and are worth less.

Brent, While I know your intentions are well meaning, I like others, think now may not be the time for this. Maybe later. Let him initiate it. Best to go visit him and encourage him in his time of need. This could be a very slow progressing cancer and he could out live you. Who knows but God. There might be concern with your tractors and equipment at his property should things go bad for him. Who knows whats his and what is yours? Another issue could be the night time parts scalpers, once they see he is in the hospital or whatever stealing stuff. Give it some thought. Just trying to help. gobble

Like the others say, think out what you are doing here, how you approach it. The fella has some serious stuff going on, you don't want to look like a vulture swooping in and trying to take another part of his life away. That might look bad from his point of view. Don't know your relationship with him, just be careful you don't inadvertently add more pain to his life by trying to take more things away from him.

Well you could ask him about used tractors and then let Him go on about this and that and maybe offer. You need to sneak in the back door. If you don't express some sort of interest in used tractors I bet they will slip by.

NOW IS the time to get your stuff out of there before something does happen !
Then ask him about other stuff you might want to buy.

Broad spectrum of worth on kubotas. My own opinion, ask him if there is anything he needs. Three times I've had equipment / tractors disappear out from under me during handling a friends/neighbours death, none of the stuff I lost out on was worth pushing the person for a decision while they were ill or their hounding their spouse after the death.

Yes it sucks to watch or even help load up things you thought would be yours onto someone elses trailer. Still right think to do.

I would not approach them now, and by all means get your stuff out of there, the estate will claim it if he passes.

Stephen are you saying this for true experience or something someone TOLD you. The reason I ask is I have been in the farm tractor business for many years. The last 30 with Kubota. I find that KUBOTA parts are price just a completive as most major brands and actually quite a bit cheaper that agco. Price for all parts have gone up in the last few years.

Get me model number, number of hours, what transmission, condition of tires and I can give you a pretty good guess but location has a lot to do with used values also.

You never know what people get attached to. Elderly friend, now deceased, kept her son's decrepit cadillac in backyard shed for better part of twenty years. The son had died relatively young, only in his 50s. The car was from the mid-70's and cheap when he bought it--maybe $500 at most. Just an old land yacht that was now home to mice, cats, whstever could find their way in. When the shed roof was collapsing onto the car (she was in a rental prop and the owner had no interest in repairs), I suggested a scrap hauler could take it away. She cried when the towman dragged that old heap out of there.

BTW for Kubota prices here on east coast, last auction i went to they were selling good machines with loaders for $8k-$11k. I suspect it may have been a dealer
Liquidating inventory as these tractors appeared almost brand new.

(quoted from post at 07:02:55 02/14/17) Kubota makes some fine tractors but be prepared for some real sticker shock when you buy their parts.

I have been running Kubotas for only thirty years so of course I have bought but very few parts so I am not a good judge, but what I have bought have not appeared high at all.
