Following The Merc

Just another video I did on the weekend trying out the follow mode on the drone. It did fine following along and keeping the camera focused on me driving. The original video is super sharp and clear but it lost a little quality in the editing and uploading process.
Flying Over The Merc

(quoted from post at 06:08:21 02/14/17) Nice car. What is the pickup truck that is in the corner of part of the video?

That truck is another Mercury that has been in the family although not as long as the car. This is how it lt looked not long after my uncle bought it in about 1969. Its a 49 Merc M68 3/4 ton.

I've got a '50 Ford F2 that I'm in the process of fixing up. It kind of matches your screen name - it's a rusty old son-of-a-gun. Just about
have the engine back together, and that's just the first step in this project. I've enjoyed your videos - both your older ones and the newer
drone ones as well. Kind of a broad range of technology there. The drone following the old Merc. ADB

That was,way cool! Now all you need to do is fire a Helfire missle at that bad guy. :) It is staggering what technology is advancing to. Just three years ago you neede a very sufisticated control box and experiance in flying RC stuff. Now it is almost push button point and shoot.

What kind of drone do you have? What kind of flight time do you find you get to a charge? It's an awfully tempting present to myself.

Mine is the Autel XStar Premium. My only regret is not getting the red one. Might have been easier to see at a distance. Battery life is hard to say as I have never run it right out. Claims of 25 minutes flight time but I don't think it will do that in cold conditions. Recharge time is quick though. About an hour. For extended use I'd want a spare battery.
It is amazing technology and I appreciate the contrast of driving a 65 year old vehicle while shooting video from a drone flying itself.
I've used it to check on the cattle several times when I didn't want to walk out in the snow in the pasture.
