Which one would you get?

Browsing through craigslist today. Noticed these 2 tractors with the same price tag.

Which would you choose?

A Ford 8n

https://jxn.craigslist.org/grd/5989013666.html Or a Gas Oliver 1800 https://lansing.craigslist.org/grd/5981643564.html

I'm just thinking, maybe asking/paying 4k for a N is a little high?

Woops not sure what happened on the links, try this again.

Oliver of course but it depends on how big of a tractor you want.

Easy--Oliver no contest, and this is from a Ford guy. The other consideration is where can you get parts and service for either one?

Well,I wouldn't give $4000 for anybody's 8N,but which would I buy if the price was fair on each one? Depends entirely on what I wanted to use it for. Never send an 1800 to do an 8Ns job.

I grew up around Olivers and love them. I also love 8N Fords (I have four of them). That said, it's like asking whether someone should buy a compact car or a 3/4-ton 4x4. For my use around my small acreage where maneuverability is important, an 1800 Oliver would just be too huge. For someone wanting to do heavy multi-bottom plowing, an 8N would be too small. It depends entirely on one's needs.

I remember when a neighbor got an 1800 back in the mid 70s. He had always farmed with a Farmall H and an M. He was looking for a 770. He liked to use his brothers 77 on the baler because of the live power. He found a deal on that 1800. That thing was so much bigger than the equipment he had was made for,it was way out of his league. He ended up trading it to guy out east of town on another M.

The Ford seems very over priced and the Oliver is going to drink a lot of gasoline. I would pick the Oliver. I don't own either brand. What are you planning on using a tractor for?

At those prices, neither. That's just my opinion though.
The Ollie is a whole lot more tractor for the money.

You might want to check this one out while you're looking.
Especially since it's original. I don't think I've ever seen one
with the original paint still on the tires, but here it is!

$6000 JD AO

No brainer 1800 Oliver. I had 1 -- many times better than ford, live power, far better hydraulic
system, mine never failed to start and it had brakes that worked.

"I had 1 -- many times better than ford"

Did the front end fall off the Ollie too or did you maintain
it a little better than that "worthless" Ford you had?
Literally running it until the whole front axle falls off?
Oh, wait. How could that happen if it would never start?
