Farmall 450 head replacement

Still looking at a 450 with supposedly cracked head. If it turns out to be bad, are there other heads which will match up to a C-281 block? Thanks, Jim.

Probably 50%of the farmalls running today have some head cracks. Cracks that cane only be found by magna fluxing are OK to use. Larger cracks can be spatter welded. There is a shop in IA that does hundreds of them every month.

Where are you located? I have an 8060 head out of the machine shop that I never used.

Thanks, For the replies. I am in Central Calif. coast. The engine was torn down for a cracked head, but never repaired. Parts were left out and rusty. PO does not remember what exactly went wrong, but the "mechanic" stopped at head removal and never removed the oil pan. Plan to cleanup the head and take to a shop for inspection. will probably need some repair work, even if it checks out OK for cracks. What other heads, or their engines will fit the C281?
What engine is the 8020 head off of?
