Had a little problem this weekend the wire worm gear that turns the shoot ate it's self

Looking to replace with something stronger - any thoughts

Sounds to me like you better figure out why the shut bound up. I have the same spiral gear on my Kubota blower with manual crank and it turns very easy. I presume you have the electric gear motor on yours, and something bound up. Better to fix problem, rather than cause a new on with a heavier spiral gear.

Hydraulic motor

Think the shoot was full of wet snow and the spiral deflected and broke. When I cleaned it all up everything was moving free. Think the deflection caused the problem - Heard they have a cast iron alternative - trying to get a part number.

Or might change the way it rotates all together - looking for suggestions

I'm thinking about it and have to figure out the linkage to get a 300 degree turn. Hopping someone already figured it out and wants to share

Pam is a vegatble oil and builds up here and there. That silicone or mineral oil are much better. The kitchen equipment i work on those food sprays are the first thing they grab. Binds the crap out of the moving parts. Need to use carb cleaner to get it off. You want to see a nice chute turner take a look at a 1950s era Gravely dog eater snow blower setup. Need to beat on it with a sledge hammer to break it. Gear drive!

Give each of the moving parts a good coat general purpose grease. Ice and snow will not stick to it. Use the original parts.

It almost looks like the spare power window motor I have for my Honda will mesh with the teeth on the Wheel Horse chute but that's going to be a summer project.
