Hanging the antique riding mower

This is somewhat tractor-related in that my Massey gave the little guy from times past a lift so i could suspend from ceiling in my home shop. Anyone seen such a thing? Twin blade deck, wild styling and one gear fwd one reverse. Motor is free, haven't done anything with it since i purchased in northrn wisc. Years ago. Very faded lettering "Wardsmaster" early montg wards mower?

How about posting a picture of your old Cushman? I had one as a kid, and of course, am sorry I let it get away. You wouldn't be interested in selling it, would you?

I love the screen seat. Seemed popular on mowers from that era and I can remember that it didn't take more than a few minutes to develop a sore, sweaty rearend with the engine heat from below on a hot summer day!! lol

Ya,we bought one like that at the sale in Archbold one time. Didn't have any spark. Sold it to a neighbor for what I paid. He put a new coil on it and got it going.

I would say yes it is a monkey wards. First girlfriend's father had
one that was pretty Close. My dad had just purchased a used JD 110 and
talk about a lawnmower and an anemic toy mower. They are fun to take
to a smaller show where they have garden tractors and such. People
just ogell over them.

BTW, I measured cutting swath--24" somewhere around a small push mower these days. Exhaust comes out UNDERNEATH, where the blades are. No chute or opening in the deck to discharge grass. Maybe the makers figured it wouldn't cut that much anyway, so no need LOL

By the time you haul this thing out the shed, get it going, put in gear, and ride the ten feet to your property line, I imagine you’d have half the lawn cut with a push mower ;-). Don’t really get who the intended buyers were for these things..so tiny and fragile in the face of any real work.

Style looks to be from at least 1940’s maybe newer like 1950s. I enjoyed putting it up, was just collecting dust in a corner and people like looking at it. Might freshen it up with some paint at some point)

The thing that stood out about this old mower was that it had a full-size steel tractor seat on it. All that with a 5HP Briggs motor.

(same problem on this one, turned it over few times, no spark. Some local mower guys say they just swap out the modern ignitions on more recent push mowers to get old machines like this to fire up again. Don’t know, haven’t tried.)

(nice job with the wall-hanging dragster. I don’t see any mounting points—someone took their time with that job. I needed to keep the mower out of the way but wasn’t ready to say good-bye yet. Up above works well, since I’m not 7-feet tall.

When you are ready, toss it my way. I've restored several of that vintage and they came out great. I had a 56 Craftsman with te stamped deck, a 61 Wards, first with a differential, and a late 60s and couple other Snappers. One of the old Snappers actually had a turtle casting on it.

The one I really want is called a Lawn-Boy Loafer. It hooks to a regular mower in front, and has a tow-along seat and traction engine behind. I've only seen one in a junk yard many years ago, and the goof wouldn't sell it.
