I worked for a man who started his crop dusting career in South America in the late 1940s. He would tell stories about flying over jungle villages and the people throwing spears at him. He figured if he crashed and survived he would have been dinner. Steve

I knew a guy who did maintenance on small aircraft and said it was a little surprising to see bullet holes in aircraft but no very uncommon.

Wasn't Custer's last words something like "where'd all them frickin Indians come from".

I also heard Custer's words were "Gosh, they seemed fine at the dance last night.
Also his last words when he left Mandan were "Don't do anything until I get back" He,He, A old slam on Bismarck-Mandan.

(quoted from post at 18:51:10 02/07/17) I know how Custer felt now---Tee

The Indians attacking Custer used Henry repeaters, the latest and most advanced rifle available, while Custer's men had single shot carbines left over from the civil war. They were not only seriously out-numbered they were also greatly out gunned.

Just today I was sitting in my truck doing paperwork and looked up to see a jet miles, and miles, and miles out doing what they do, go from cloud to cloud way, way, way out in the distance. That made me think of two things. One, what if someone was filming a real honest western, maybe cowboys and indians movie and way, way, way out in the distance there was a jet streaking through the sky and no one noticed it. You're at the movie theater and there is the Lone Ranger and Tonto doing what they did, go after bad guys on horseback, chasing them down and there in the back ground way off in the distance is a squadron of F15's streaking across the sky...in the movie. Two, what if in real life Custer and Crazy Horse and all of the boys were just about to do what they did, but just before they did they looked up and there was a squadron of F15's streaking across the sky way back then?

couple of old westerns from 1970s have jets in background-- one John Wayne feature at least. The International(?) Movie Datebase site has bunch of OOPS! that made it through editing to main viewing, things caught by audience later. Custer Massacre movie scene with Dakota discussing plans, English subtitles-- but some in audience recognized the tribal language as Shoshone and Crow- enemies of Lakota/Dakota at the time. Or Wizard of Oz with little people singing- was lip synched which was normal-- but the lip reader in couple audiences 'read/heard' the words as slightly obscene commentary - the 'witch' is dead was referring to a female dog word. Now we have Utube videos with really silly mistakes, some low budget movies with bad scripts and propmen using whatever is in back shelf-- Star Wars storm troopers carrying Lewis guns familiar sight? Sometimes the propman has to use something close with slight modifications because a real object is too expensive or doesn't exist anymore- Pearl Harbor movies, other WW2 pacific shows-- all those Zeros that look like reworked SNJ/AT6s? Hogan's Hero's - Sgt Schultze rifle is a Krag-Jorgenson instead of Mauser-- but that migtht be realistic for the time and location as a POW Luftwaffe camp guard. VHS pause buttons let a lot of screen shots be taken with various little mistakes- wardrobe malfunctions, mechanical mistakes. etc. RN
