Some place to take the wife....

So....this is kinda ot....but....the wife lives here too, and we all know its important to do something that makes them happy time to time.....allows us to keep tinkering on tractors we don't really need (see....I made this on topic, lol) with that said....

I want to take the wife somewhere for valentines day, a weekend trip somewhere close (southwest ohio) but far enough away to be a "trip" (indy, Cincinnati, Louisville, Lexington, Columbus, you get the idea)

Looking for a place with a nice hotel, and a local bar / place that plays GOOD COUNTRY music, you can dance, and enjoy yourself, and get something nice to eat.

I need some ideas of WHERE to go to find this, so help a feller out!

We are long over due for such a trip, and the hours I have worked the last couple years she has been more than patient with me being gone, and holding down the fort. Momma is due for something nice like this....so I am trying, lol
 
Has Renfro Valley opened up for the season yet? A couple of good motels there. A good steakhouse up on the hill. The Barn Dance show is fantastic!
 
I had not thought of that yet...that's a bit farther than I wanted to go....but would be a good time! Ill have to look that up. We drive through there every time going to the lake, but haven't been there really.

Speaking of, are you heading to Dale Hollow this year?

Let me know if you are, well meet up. Mom and dad have a place there near Obey river / sunset marina; if I recall you have stayed there before.

You turn off 111 at the Dairy Queen to get to their place.....Id like to meet you in person sometime if it works out.
 
I always took my wife to Louisville to the Farm Machinery Show,and it always is the week of Valentines Day! But she used to enjoy that,too.Mark
 
Renfro Valley's only about 50 miles south of Lexington,not that bad a drive. We've been there twice,had an absolute ball!

I don't know if we're going to the lake this year or not. We stayed almost a week last summer,went in early October the year before. Been thinking about just doing Michigan and Ohio on the 127 this year,so if we go down,it might be later on. I'd like to try that Roller Coaster Sale again some time,but I found out the last time,the weather's a gamble that time of year.

Lee Little lives just down the road in Clark Range. We always try to meet up with them when we go down.

Randy, last year we did the US 12 garage sale weekend and we were quite impressed! It's later on in the summer.

You Know maybe this is a good topic to bring up. With in my life I have dated girls but while I was working the employer has always got in between the girls I dated. It was not the tractors ,hobbies I had which to some ladies I had dated it was a plus for me. No Instead it was always the JOB that killed the relationship. I had one lady that enjoyed a long drive to a nice pretty place and then wanted a picnic. So I would pack a cooled full of food and the coalman stove and cook a light dinner just for the two of us. After that we would head back home and that was a date. You know that spot that you like near a lake or river. Think like maybe a trip for a week going to where she might talk about Or going to see that singer she like you know a concert. Good luck on what you do.
 
New Orleans La!! Great food, music, history. Been with the wife a couple times. Wonderful! Stay in the french quarter. You wont need to rent a car. Catch a cab from the airport to your hotel. We stay at the Hotel Saint Marie a block from Bourbon St.
