Whats it worth??

I'm looking t sell a 1965 JD 4020 Deisel. Its a Powershift and its pretty rough looking a few minor dents and dings and needs paint. it runs really good and starts really good and its got new batterys and boxes and the back tires are like 95 percent. Also new tach cable. Its missing side screens and rear panels to. Whats it worth?? Thanks

You could check with Machinery Pete. He was saying just a few weeks ago that the sale average on a 64 synchro was $6300.

Certainly depends on your location. Is it a diesel? Around Kansas it would bring roughly $5500.00 +/- . If you could get ahold of a salvage yard and get the screens and side panels it would make it bring $500 - $1000 more believe it or not. However, area is a big key. Bob

Information supplied is limited, so $5000 should get a sale. No radiator screens, narrow front, no 3 point hitch, 15.5-38 rear tires, no weights, unknown hours, poor seat, problems in the power shift would all hurt the value.

I'm not too sure about your location but I would start asking around $8000 and go from there, I'm not big into the newer JD line but I could tell you pretty acurately on any of the older models.

If you posted this question in the John Deere forum you would get the attention of a lot of guys very knowledgeable on the topic. However as said before, prices vary widely by location. I would bet in Iowa or further east you could easily get $6-7K or more if it is mechanically sound as you say. Still a good market for 4020's both on the farm and for guys that want to restore a 4020. If this one is cosmetically rough but good tire-wise and mechanically, you will get a lot of attention, just maybe not in Montana

Don't listen to all these crazy folks, your tractor is really worth about $4-500. But because I'm the type of person that I am I'll give your $750 for it right now, in cash, just to help you out.
