credit card question

Every year mastercard sends me a new credit card. It has the same number on the front, but a different 3 digit number on the back. Ebay and a couple other places I've bought tractor parts from in the last week have the old credit card three diget number from the old card, but not the new one. Doesn't the old card expire when you activate the new one? No one has asked for the new 3 diget code.

Every 4 years I have to mess around with ebay and paypal to update mine. Expiration date and ccv code change. Also make sure you call and activate the new card when it arrives.

EBay has never had my credit card info, nor would I see any reason to give it to them as a buyer, only PayPal which has the info of a long expired card but doesn't seem to matter since it is linked to my bank account

The three digit code is just a security measure to make sure you didn't get the card number fraudulently. Once you have the account set up they don't need the security code anymore unless you change card accounts.
