Can I use 7/16-14 X 3" bolts instead of studs on the cylinder head of my Ford 2N tractor? Also, since the bolts or studs go right into the water jacket, should I use sealer around the threads?

DBW..........yes, Ford finally figgered it out. To gitt the cylinder head off yer 2N with studs, ya hadda remove the gas tank which was attached to the hood. It took 2-men anna boy to do it. By changing to BOLTS, ya could remove the cylinder head without removing the hood and attached gastank. Reminder, COARSE thread fer castiron. Most cylinder head leaks are caused by WARPPED heads. Yer automotive machine shop knows how to check fer flatness and will "mill" it flat again. Me? I always spray my headgasket with aluminum paint and install WET. There are 21 bolts/studs to install starting in the CENTER of the head. There are patterns to do it correctly, 3-times around to 65ft/lbs.........HTH, the flatheaded Dell
