Sometimes when I mention the y/T tractor site discussion forums to my friends they look at me a
little funny? But I think many of you on the site here may agree,we have a rare thing going here. Its
like a town or community thats adress is all over the U.S. and many other countries. We may have
little disagreements now and then,,but,,when someone needs help or kind words, the whole community
comes through. That is a rarity nowadays.I dont care if someone does think its strange,,I one am
proud to be part of Y/T town,,,and Talerville and thats my story,,,and Im stickin to it!

Agree. Met a lot of great people here, and a lot of knowledge here too. When I went to Krusers first cent Illinois yt round up, my daughter tells me ...be careful dad you shouldn't meet people on the internet, it's not safe!!!!

FWIW (nuttin) I agree and after all if they need help "We would do it for them"

John T Live from Sunny South Central Florida, Bluegrass, Square Dancing, Antique Tractor Shows, RV Lifestyle, Barely Soda Pops and food, it don't get much better then that........

Yes, this is a great site; YTMAG is really my favorite web site and I enjoy the forums very much. There is nothing in The Netherlands or even in Europe that could hold a candle to Yesterdaystractors.
I feel humbled being allowed to be a part of this fraternity and thankful to the Yesterdaystractors staff for providing it. If it were not for this site and its many helpful people, my rebuild project would not have gotten where it is now.
Hendrik, from The Netherlands
Please, bear with me, English is not my mother tongue.

This is the only site I guarantee to visit every day. I feel like I know so many of you though I haven't met personally. I appreciate all the advice, lack of drama, and avoidance of political issues. It is my "safe" place.

Don't apologize for your language. Some of the guys here are a a little short on communication skills and spelling. We just overlook as long as we can understand what is being communicated.

Myself, I really treasure contributions from farmers from other countries. Their equipment and practices are different, and interesting.

This site has become a big family to me. Some uf us might be a little brazen on the outside but we all have good hearts on the inside.

John, where do you look to find Western Square Dances in Fla.?
Last year I could not find anything in the DeLand area ( 30 minutes West of Daytona).. or anything to suggest there was any..!!
Some well-meaning souls were sure it just HAD to be the "Big Red Barn" ( Bar) was it..
I drove the 45 minutes down there on rt 17..
What I found was a Big Red Barn that looked like the "Country Bunker" from the Blues Brothers..!!!

Well, that was my adventure in Square Dancing in Fla..
I have been at it for 32 years and "Angel" at the Lessons every year..

Yessir, me too. There are people here that I don't particularly care for and likely some that don't like me(but they are wrong, LOL) BUT compared to the public in general Ill take the guys and gals on YT any day of the week. I consider this place to be my second home.

Were in the Sebring and Avon Park area and there are dances Monday and Wednesday and Saturday nights in either Lake Wales or Sebring or Wauchula or Lake Placid etc. etc. One caller is Sam Dunn another Ron Reardon. There are a few websites that list dances and callers all over the USA. Its fun and good exercise and good friendly people.

Hendrik, your English is much better than mine!

My Vo-ag teacher in high school used to tell us that he'd served in England during WW2, and there was no way anyone could accuse us of speaking English. He said we spoke AMERICAN!

Bear with you? HA - No problem!

I click on all of your posts Hendrik - they are always very interesting.

Thank you for all of the photos!

It's much more soothing to the soul to log in here than watch the news.
As time has gone bye I've realized there is REAL people all over the world. LOL

Well said Larry! I enjoy the huge amount of knowledge here as well as the varied opinions on things. I guess the minor disagreements never bothered me much since that life, and as you said we all come together when needed.

We often see need through the differences we each take pride in and have a commonality of practical and innovative solutions to problems. Even repeated controversy is a desirable reenactment of opinionated positioning, But fun. Jim

If all the responses to DaveK(in) on page 8 isn't an indication of how we feel about our association with one another in this "town", I don't know what is. Has anybody heard how he's doing? On a side note, I too get odd looks when I mention Y/T, or Minneapolis Moline for that matter. Like the commercial says, city folks just don't get it!

I know a lot of people at shows, auctions and flea markets now,who would be strangers to me if we hadn't met here first.

PJH. Thank you for your reply.
While I sometimes post photos, I think the poster you are referring to is "Hendrik from Germany", whose photos I enjoy too. (I even have a German tractor: a 1956 Holder B10D.)

I never would have noticed. Of course I have people here from Denmark and Sweden to hunt a few times a year. lol You're accent doesn't come through when we read what you write.

Thanks, Randy.
I spent six months in Canada, so there is a modest chance we may be able to converse, should we ever meet :)

This is one of the things i was thinking of when i posted about irma's kitchen. This site has the same similarities as the corner cafe or the local gas station debating society. The one thing about here is the waitress won't throw you out the door!

Y/T is a great site with agreat group of guys & gals. I work for my youngest sil & his dad on their dairy farm. I m on this site morning ,noon & night. This site reminds me of the over the road days in a truck. Guys on here from all over the world. Like to see their pics & farming.BTW I like Jon F MN pulled for Dart late 80 s early 90 s. Would like to meet all Y/Ter s. Richard

I also love this site. I have been coming here since 1998 (I was 12 years old then, and went as 'FarmallCaseKid')... If it weren't for the amazing people on here, I wouldn't have learned nearly as much as I have. I have had a support system through this site that has helped in nearly every facet of my life as I have grown up. I have yet to meet very many of you in person (I don't get out much), but whenever I do make it out of the house I always post something here to see if I might be able to enjoy a soda and sandwich with anyone along the road.

Speaking of which - this site has been part of my daily routine for years. It's usually pat of my morning. Clean myself up, eat breakfast, and check out to see what is going on on the forums.. Almost like sitting at a small town coffee shop - only our 'small town' covers the width of the world.

You got me there.
I meant to say: so there is a modest chance we may be able to converse in some form of English ;-)

Jim...say what? Are you saying we like tractors and helping each other with tractor issues?Your writing style is certainly unique.

Paul

Hi, I like the y/t town family. Even the family squabbles.
(Just like home) Ed Will Oliver BC wine capital

Does her name start with a k started thinking about that. Like i said in my posting messing with the waitress can led to public humiliation helped a gal at the gas station the other day a guy had been picking on her by the time we got done he wished he hadn't

Yeah but I caught BD slipping a "U" in one of his words the other day, showing his Canadian (like the US spelling of "color" vs British influenced "colour"). Grin. I dinged him on it in jest and he didn't reply.....probably just blew it off as trivial nonsense which it was.

Y/T is my home page on the computer. I check it out every day. Been here since Jan 2004. I wouldn't miss a day. I posted more when I had the Penna farm before it burned.

I read it to get a broad spectrum of opinions on a variety of issues, besides fixing tractors and equipment.
It is easy to think everyone else thinks the same about issues. The site gives a national viewpoint and a broad reach of social and financial perspectives.
I enjoy the life issues, business and political discussions, but they don't last long.
It is a great place to get practical advice...like what to do about trespassers.
How to get rid of varmints. May not be mechanical but it is a part of farm life.

No, I'm afraid that, to a Swede, our language is incomprehensible Double Dutch and the other way around too.
ROFL

I'm sorry that I confused you with the other Hendrik, but I still say, "No problem".

I call it my "Redneck Facebook"! LOL

Wife still wonders what we're up to here. She likes to sneak up behind me and see what I'm doing on here! She is amazed at how civil it is, lack of drama. I tell her it's moderated, but 99% of us don't need to be.

She recently swore off FB (for the 10th time) because of the drama and gossip, posting bible verses one day and porn the next...

Yes, I think we do have a great thing going here! Glad to have found all'a'yall!

I thought there might be some German commonality there. I don't speak German myself, but Thoger says it's pretty easy to understand German if you speak Swede.

I'm certainly no language expert, but I find spoken Scandinavian languages impossible to understand, even while I understand German very well.
With some difficulty I can read a Danish newspaper, however, spoken Danish is a big no no, let alone Swedish :-(

Ya,the thing with Swedish, sometimes there are fifty words spoken to say something that can be said with one word. It's confusing as to why they even do it. There's the old dialect and the new one too,and that's confusing. There was an exchange student here one year who made friends with the daughter of a friend of mine,Dave. Dave's father had immigrated here from Sweden and spoke the old dialect. The Swedish girl was at their house one time and Dave told her to go up to his dad and start talking Swede to him. When he started speaking it back to her,she laughed at him and told him that he spoke like her grand father.

There were some Swedes here at a show that featured IH one time. They had a booth set up and Dave went up and started speaking Swedish to them. They laughed and said it sounded like he was talking baby talk. He said it was because his parents stopped speaking Swedish at home when he was five years old. My oldest uncle used to talk Swedish to Dave's dad all the time though.

I was just remembering Dave2 this morning after I saw this post. Wow he used to get worked up and go on the attack! Wonder if he still checks on this site. Kinda miss Lyles posts too, never found out why he got the boot exactly.

I could not agree more. This is the one site that I visit almost everyday. It does feel a lot like the small community in Ark that I grew up in.

Even though I sometimes still feel like the new guy in town here I enjoy reading and contributing when I can.

I will say that one of the best things that I enjoy about Y/T Town is that when you need help or information it is given freely and in most cases without even a hint of a "Put Down".

I know that when I was getting ready to use a bottom plow for the first time in my 52 years this group was right there giving me information and tips that they had learned or been taught. And after seeing videos that I posted gave me even more info on how to correctly setup my plow.

How many other places would that? I see it almost everyday here when someone needs to fix, fabricate or build something.

Farming info and advice is passed around kind of like the cattle farmers I grew up around.

Thanks to everyone for all you do and for helping others and myself.

BJ

Ya,Dave2 could get vicious. I don't remember who it was now,I'm thinking Larry and corner guy and me,got ribbing him a little too much about his man purse. Boy,did he ever go after us with a vengeance. We were just clowning around, but he didn't have much of a sense of humor about it. LOL

glennster,

I think she was right... you ate with them at the Burger Barge until you had "the big one"... just shows they're a dangerous bunch. LOL

I like your story....and this site....have met a few guys from North of the border here, and look forward to meeting our southern neighbours when the Chance arises. Ben

You're all a great bunch!!!

My husband likes to veg with TV in the evenings.
Instead of staring at the tube in the evening, I hang out here...
and in the morning, and at lunch and sometimes on work breaks. LOL

I have learned a lot about many subjects from all of you...
and seen many beautiful places that I'd never have seen,
had you not shared your photos and tales.
It's a great "hood" to "live" in. :)

If you are ever in Canada again, make sure you stop by....been in the Netherlands a few times, lots of relatives there. Ben

I agree, it is a great bunch. I try to help out when I can, and on the other side have learned quite a lot.
I certainly don't claim to be the sharpest tack in the box, and can always learn more.

Hee-hee. My husband too... but do you think I can convince him to post here? Nope - he says you're my people, not his. LOL

He does sometimes ask me what's going on here that's interesting. And likes to see the pics of old tractors and buildings. And sometimes sends me here to post a technical question.

I really appreciate this site. It's a safe place to be - compared to the rest of the interwebs.
I really appreciate watching. Someday, I hope to have a tractor of my own and can jump in more often.
Ya'll make me laugh and cry. Quite a fun bunch to follow.

I didn't realize the cowman was kicked off, I knew I hadn't seen anything from him for a long time. It's a shame, he has a wealth of knowledge on the red stuff and apparently quite a bit of drive to do all that he does at the red power roundup.

yes i agree, very nice people here. when u look at the sites this IH site has to have the most people gathering around with inputs. red is popular. nice way to pass time.

This site has probably saved me thousands of dollars over the years because people were willing and able to diagnose, give repair instructions, and guide me through the process allowing me the opportunity to do my own repairs. Besides the fact that it is just a down right entertaining site.

Agree.

There are several folks on YT that are outstanding in their field.

a149758.jpg" width="650"

James, i know a couple guys can bring ya half a dozen or so horses to help ya mow all that grass there!!! (we'll drop em off at night!!)

I usually refer to it as one of the tractor forums. The wife is about the only one who knows what I am referring to. I have learned a quite a few things one here. Hope I have helped out a few also and have finally learned to try to avoid a few guys who call every body out about any thing one puts out there.

Very much agree. The comment "Facebook for old farmers" is appropriate. Wife says I spend more time on Y/T than she does on Facebook! But I'm not an old farmer, just an old electronics engineer with a deep love for farming and anything agriculture.

I have come to the conclusion that if a tree falls in the forest, it only makes a sound if an ear is there to hear it!

I'm late gettin' in cuz I was running today. I agree, but I can't give good comparison cuz I don't bookface, tweet, snap, or anything else. Just YT. It's a darned good bunch that are very courteous, agreeable, and helpful. Like every town it's got it's characters. So now I'm pondering what this town would be like if it were a town on a map. Would it be Mayberryesque, or more like Hooterville, or something through a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind......and the signpost up ahead says Talerville. Some times I think it would be like Foghorn Leghorn's yard from Looney Toons.

What happened there anyway? He just dropped off. Was he hit with a skillet or did he just leave on his own?

I enjoy (almost) every post and every photo. The sheer variety of everything that goes on here keeps me reading all the posts daily. I don't post a lot because most of these posts are quite accurate, and most would be hard to improve on what was said. The longer I stay around, the more I appreciate the dry sense of humor and the inside jokes that a lot of city folk don't even notice.

Facebook is still on my computer because the kids post grandkid photos, wedding photos, and the occasional stupid stunt caught on video. I have gotten pretty good at scrolling down through it fast enough to miss all the political garbage and most of the drama. Some days i have to go pretty fast.

Right now, it is snowing with a little mix of rain, and this site is about the only thing helping me keep my sanity until spring gets here. (Look at the photo and imagine what that fresh dirt smells like)

A lot of my conversations at home or at work start with..." The guys on that tractor forum I go on every are saying...", or something like that.

I enjoy this sight and visit it every day. This is the only place I can go to for tractor information, or just about anything else. As for tractor information no one is around anymore that I can go to for help. That generation is gone. Stan

Yep,
Great site that I have to stop in a "few" times a day. Like redtom said, I frequently say "well the guys on my tractor board said".

Sure have met a lot of good people from here - No matter what glennster's Dottir sez!

This forum is better than it used to be...a little more tolerant. I have a whole lineup of my internet explorer favs that I hit multiple times a day...even more so during my winter vacation....

Being a youngin I love this forum because I have learned stuff I never knew I needed till I read it hear and had to use it later. Lots of little tricks that make life a heck of a lot easier. And lets face it if you can learn them at 25 and not 65 you are a little ahead of the game.

Word at the time was that he lost his cool about something and stepped over the line. It came as a surprise to me because he always seemed so gentlemanly.

I always wondered what you really call the American dialect? Seems we have numerous variations as other languages have in expanses of their countries. I did spend quite some time in England and did notice the distinctions when considering Webster's Collegiate rendition.

From the day I joined YT:
(quoted from post at 13:06:42 12/25/09) Greetings all. New here to post, but this isn't my first visit. It seems nearly every question I google on the Super A comes up with this forum for a best possible answer. Kudos on having the very best site for info, parts and community for Yesterday's Tractors.

It's still the friendliest, most enjoyable on-line community I know of, in addition to having the greatest breadth and depth of knowledge on all things relating to old and still functional agricultural equipment of all colors. More often than not, even strongly held differences of opinion (Red vs Green vs Blue vs Orange vs Yellow vs ...) are respectfully stated or even debated. The outpouring of support, whether that be for locating an obsolete part, or to someone with health problems, is nothing less than inspirational.

After 7 years of wandering through here on and off (for a long time over a very poor dial-up connection), I easily consider most of you as neighbors, even though we've never met IRL. If the farm work ever slows down, maybe I can change that. Meanwhile, in odd moments I can spare here, I'll gladly hoist a beverage to y'all, and say "Thanks!".

DieselTech, my better half also refers to YT as "tractor porn". She says I'm addicted. LOL

I have been going to ask this for a long time Larry, and since you opened the door for it.Are you and some others on "FaceBook"where everybody has to post every aspect of your personal movements and daily life.Maybe I'am too private ,but there are some things posted that I don't or won't share even with my own family, let alone with the world.I don't care what is posted about your daily lives, and don't read them after a few words seeing what they are,but just curious what drives the need. AND no I'am not or ever have been on that SITE,but hear enough about it.

y/t is the only thing I know on the computer,,besides you tube,,there I look up tractors working etc.I did just look on craiglist for a bicycle too. I probably do go overboard, once they taught me here how to post pictures and put captions I kind of went crazy because I never thought I could learn how to do it.Im not real smart with a computer at all.I will apologize for going overboard, its sort of like a hobby that went overboard.Im sorry if anything I did offended you or made you think less of this great site.I try to keep non tractor related stuff on T tales but sometimes I Slip. Please except my apology for that too.I know you have been on this site for a long time,,and I would like to respect your wishes. ///Larry

No,it wasn't about you personally and didn't mean that, but the whole YT Sites and others the amount of people putting their life stories on daily.Just a question on needs to do it(so).

Thanks..I know what you know..there are GREAT Times at those dances and a good caller can get into your head and channel some Adrenalin..!!

I am still amazed that there are SO Many combinations of "Looks" that can absolutely blow your mind when the next call comes..!!

"Flipping a Diamond from the Center of a Line" caught me a week or so ago..
Sometimes a caller will call "Re-Make the Thar) and all squares break down...wish they taught that one now...

If you run across the websit address would you send them..?

One of the most phenomenal Callers anywhere near here is "Jack Pladys"..
Jack has developed a "College for Square Dance Callers" to make them better callers...

Jack is worrying us..he has survived 2 boughts of Tongue Cancer and is still calling like it never happened..even with the loss of part of his tongue..
Callers are Amazing people...
