Farmall 706 Glow Plugs

Was using my glow plugs for 30 seconds and all at once the glow plug meter made a decent flash blue electricity. Not sure what happened, haven't look into it yet. been using the glow plugs for 30 seconds for several months now. with 5 new glow plugs also. 6th once will not come out unless i break it. though the gage is as old as tractor. Not sure if they still give the plugs a connection after the meter stops showing any reading-kind of a dumb question-. Anybody have this happen before. i think its okay to bypass the gp meter, i mean ill know if a glow plug is bad, harder starting 4/6 pistons firing etc. thanks, any thoughts let me know.

The glow pugs in that engine are in parallel, no direct harm will be done by bypassing the burned out glowplug meter so long as you don't hold the button for an extended period of time and blow one or more GP's.

The meter, part # 378352R91, is a little over a hundred bucks and readily available from CIH.

If you want to know if that sixth plus is good, you should be able to test it with a test light. Hook the test light to power and touch it where the wire spade hooks to the glow plug. If the plug is good,it'll light the light. If it's burned out,it won't.

a much less expensive option, if you don't care about "correct" is to replace it with a 60A ammeter. take note of the reading with 6 good plugs, then you know what it should be.
