side draft carb?

I was reading through a thin ageless iron magazine put out by a major farm magazine and came to an article about updraft carbs. The 'expert' who authored the article claimed he didn't know of one gasoline powered farm tractor that had a side draft carb. A Waterloo two banger Deere carb sure does look like a side draft to me.

Aren't the carbs like the DLTX-10 that was used on the JD B a side draft carb??

Is the Carb on the AC WD-45 considered a "Side-Draft" Carburetor..?

The Venturii is vertical, but the air Inlet is horizontal...

I agree. The orientation of the venturi is what should determine whether it is updraft, side draft, or downdraft.

Haven't read the article yet but just turned to it, (next reading session). Funny thing is the picture is of a GP and what looks like a homebrew conversion to updraft.
