Farmall 300 rockford clutch

The Rockford clutch was considered to be heavier duty. The style of the pressure plate differs from the Aubrun (standard) clutch. They were not much different in capacity or life expectancy, but the Auburn style became obsolete and replacement clutches are (almost) all Rockford type. The J in the serial number means Rockford. The numbers produced with each type appears to me to favor Rockford, and that then might be considered Standard. Jim

In a Farmall 300 you would have to look twice to see the difference between a Rockford and a IH clutch. They quit using the Auburn clutch when IH went to the Independent PTO as far as I have seen. They are interchangeable.
