Getting rid of old stuff...

...been cleaning out the file cabinets this past week. Need to open up drawers for this years tax returns plus since I started recycling my file folders I need to empty out a batch of this years color. Loaded the back of the truck with boxes full of the things to take out to the farm and burn. I have to stay there while they burn to make sure no ones private info blows out into the world. So I took a couple of my moms old ceramic pieces with me. I have tons of the stuff. I have given it away to people who like it. A lot of it we use here for holiday decoration. Some is just junk and mom would have been the first to admit it. So I took a couple of these with me AND the little Browning 22SA and set up a little target shoot. With temps in the 50's and sun...not a half bad way to kill an afternoon! :)

I seen where a guy put up a couple of cattle panels then burned in that. My dad wanted to burn papers but living in town made it hard what i did was give him a grill it was slow but gave him something to do

Where I bank they have one or two FREE shred days where a truck comes & sets across from the bank & you can bring items to shred.

Been doing the same thing. Private papers go in the burn pile. Whenever I light the pile Marilyn will invariably say "while the pile is burning I have these papers from the office.............".

I have an old oil drum and a screen cover from a fire pit. We burn a lot of junk mail, credit card offers etc. Burn about once a month.

I use a hog panel. Form into a square by crimping with the skidloader bucket and lifting up...repeat. Wire the ends together.

I built a trash burning apparatus using galvanized, corrugated roofing panels. It works, but I won't recommend it. Galvanized tin and fire don't co-habitate very well.

Here, our personal paper recycler is called the wood stove. Can't see wasting all that energy hauling paper the rest of the world doesn't need to see to the local transfer station where it gets loaded up and hauled even further to some place to be made back into paper. I put those "free" calories into heating the house, with the ashes getting added to the spreader for the fields, or traction when the walk paths get icy.

I get free 55 gal steel barrels from the local Goodyear store. I use them for target shooting. Keep moving the targets around. Mostly bottom half. After 2000 rounds they are ready for burn barrel. Cut the top and bottom out. Wire to a steel post outside to keep from blowing away.
Toss in a bunch of Muzzy 45, 50 and 54 cal for good ventilation One barrel will last me 2 years. And I live in country with no garbage pickup.
