Snowblower update

Back in September I posted about a blower I bought from a buddy for 450 bucks. When I started working on I found a bunch of rotted steel I wanted to replace along with a paint job. With some help from Mike (ne Ohio ) and others we figured it was probably an old allied even though there were no tags or decals. So after a lot of welding, scraping, grinding and painting this is what I ended up with. I know allied blowers are blue but I had a bunch of paint left over so that's what I used. Probably look good behind one of Loren's tractors. Lol. Original PTO shaft was bent pretty bad and I will have the new one welded up this weekend. Thanks for everyone's help.

Pics didn't load the first time.

Nothing I would love more than NOT needing to get the tractor out to move snow. It will be exciting for you to get to use you new to you blower. You enjoy and I will pray for no snow. lol gobble

Way back when I lived in Romeoville, IL. I used to shovel my drive and an elderly widow on one side, an elderly couple on the other, and another elderly widow next to them. One year we got pounded so I went out and bought a self propelled two stage job for about $1,000. Didn't get snow for two or three years after that. $1,000? Cheap insurance.

Funny how that goes with having it but not needing it ! I hope I don't either ! I used to work for a contractor who did snow plowing. There was nothing worse than a 2 or 3 am phone call to go to plow. Weather varies so much here it could be a total Blizzard in one spot and 10 miles away there is nothing. Very unpredictable.

Ohhhhhh I love that big bad Orange beautiful bady! Looks like you did a super job. Get your new PTO and have at it. Give us a few action shots. Would it be a good idea to put a pair of skid shoes or super heavy duty hard rubber wheels on it so you don't bust up the bottom? Just a thought.

I was thinking about the shoes. Friday I took off a bunch of wear plates that were inside the impactor housing of one of our concrete crushers and brought them home. Really hard steel. Losts of chrome in them which wears good. All I have to to is cut and bend the them. They will last forever ! Glad you guys like it ! It took longer than expected but for the money I have in it it was well worth it ! Will post a video when we get enough snow to use it. I figure with buying it and fixing it I have maybe 650 into it including paint, wire wheels, steel, and welding supplies. I tried to keep track of it to see where I was at not including my time cause I like doing stuff like this so that doesn't count.

Being an AC guy I have to say that color looks good, (and it will stand out in the snow). That should move a lot of snow too. Bet you can hardly wait. How about a picture of it in action when you get the chance?

My buddy I bought it from had it on a 190xt allis. Will post pics when we get some snow !

Need picture from working side. Does it have augers in to bring snow to fan? My area most blowers are 2 auger and one without any would not work at all. Last year and so far this year have not had to be blown out. Renter does it with a 2 auger blower on 150+ HP front wheel assist JD and have seen him spinning all 4 tires at a time trying to push into the snow while taking a top layer off to be able to tale a bottom layer. This is in western Ohio 40 mile from Indiana and midway between Dayton and Toledo. Yours does not look tall enough foe an auger.

When I was in the field working for the city, I used to love the 2 or 3am calls, especially on holidays. Only way to make some real money. Moving to the office was nice because the higher wage made up for 0 overtime. Retirement was far and away the best of all!
