Hello just wanted to ask a question I was lifting a bale of hay today with my jd 1020 went to set bale down handle for the lift broke off at spot weld.I put vise grips on what little metal that was left coming thru the bracket set bale down but ended up grounding metal to where they don't grip to raise or lower lift vise grips wont bite enough metal it just slips. This has 7 inch rod or so extending from housing that runs thru bracket sleeve .What would be my best opion to fix.Thanks.

You either need to weld tab back on control rod(key 5) or replace it which requires R&R of rockshaft housing . You could try a salvage yard as JD new part is pricey.

Thanks for the info TX Jim. I drilled old spot weld out of bracket handle and tried to spot weld handle back on with wire welder but broke, only about 1/8 or so of control rod extending thru rod and lift bracket, may try to grind rod bracket down some to get more to weld on and try with stick weld. Thanks for your reply TX Jim.
