block heater fixed

I plumbed the top just under the thermostat in the plug I found, Capped off the elbow going down into the block. i am assuming that the block heater was creating some bubbles and they were getting trapped in the elbow. It would start circulating and quit after awhile every time. The new inlet goes in sideways and any bubbles will go into the thermostat housing and into the rad. Not sure how it could have worked all these years but maybe it didn't as I bought the tractor in February cant say it was working then.
Yes it has a frost plug heater and I would use it but it has been wrecked and would have to go buy a new one and don't plan on driving an hour for it right now.

Thanks for the input to those who replied.

Good job! I put a tank heater on a Farmall A 42 years ago. I had the head off anyhow, so I drilled and tapped a hole in the side of the block between the sleeves for the hot water to enter the engine, and took the cold water out of the drain hole on the bottom neck, worked great! the tank heater was close enough to the carburetor to warm it up a little too.
