Transmission Clutch Change Leyland 384

Never worked on a Leyland of any kind. Friend wants me to help him change the clutch and maybe PTO clutch. He said it can be done without splitting the tractor. I looked at some pictures on the net, but it seems you would have to disassemble the pressure-plate to get it out.
Can somebody steer me in the right direction? I thought about just splitting the tractor ,but what I can tell, is that there is a snap-ring on the back-side to be able to get the clutch assembly out.
The problem is the tractor will not move no matter what you do. He has the top of the transmission off and he said he can move the back wheels by turning the transmission gears, but nothing is turning from transmission forward. I told him he may have a broken input shaft, he said it's unlikely because the shaft is a real heavy shaft. Did anybody run into that problem on a Leyland 384?

The clutch comes out through the top after you take the housing off. I have done many Nuffield tractors but not quite sure of the 384.

On the Nuffield there are two pins that holds a sliding coupler in position, take them out, take the clutch cross shaft out and that gives you room to get the clutch out.

We usually make up some strong wire clamps to hold the clutch fingers down then take out the bolts around the outside of the pressure plate but only take the shorter ones out as the long ones allow the pressure plate to expand and it will be impossible to get it out of the chassis.

Great gang of chaps on here. http://leyland.conforums.com/index.cgi Rick Colbey is the expert.

If it's like a Fiat clutch, yes,it's inside the pressure plate. On a Fiat, the PTO clutch runs against the pressure plate and the tractor drive clutch is where you said it is. The tractor drive shaft is hollow on the Fiat. The PTO shaft runs inside of it.

Majorman has it right. Take the top of the bell housing off, then clutch come out after you take the pins out of the drive tubes. Just a note of caution... David Brown clutches look the same but are not quite the same...
