Last of 2016 harvest is done, finally

Finally finished off Jeff's corn today when I got home. The snow had settled pretty good and the temp was in the mid 20s so it went pretty good. Did get stuck once when I fell in a rut and because it has water and ice in the bottom I couldn't get out, no mud tho. I really hate bouncing a combine through frozen ruts, but you do what needs doing. The deer had done a LOT of damage, bet there are 100 deer eating the corn. I estimate they ate 100bu since I was out there last. Would have been nothing left by spring. Glad that's done.

Have someone ride shotgun.....literally....and do two harvests at once! Great to be done, now enjoy the holidays. Ben

Too bad your so far away,,Loren would have finished the harvest for you while you were on the road. It would be neat if more of us were neighbors and not so far away from each other,I never ran a combine, but would try to help him somehow.

Feels good, don't it? I still have a very small field of soy I tried this year. Snow is too high still but if I get a break I can run right out there. Head is already on the combine and the truck is empty and ready. Getting done before the holidays is priceless. Congratulations!

Sooner or later you will get a break. If I had my choice, the snow would melt first and then the a freeze. Then we could BOTH finish up and move on. :)
