Have a case 1835B skidsteer leaking oil into the left chain drive case. Have a feeling I will need a new drive motor. Can they be rebuilt? Heard they are expensive. Thanks

I bought a mustang skid steer around 15 years ago that was doing the same thing. Put seal kits in the motors and has been good since. I'd also make sure the motor case drain is open if it has one.

I'd leave it alone and live with it. If you fix it, it will just leak somewhere else....that is what Case loaders do :(

I have an older prime mover l1200 skidder i bought a few years ago. The rt drive was a little weak. Had a mysterous hydraulic leak i could not find . Did not leak when running, but would leak a lot overnite. Turns out it was the rt drive motor leaking in the chain case. Took the motor in to get rebuilt, but was beyond repair. A new drive motor was 1400. If i could have found the problem earlier, prolly could have just put seals in. Id fix it sooner than later.

It's most likely just the shaft seal that needs to be replaced as long as the bearings are still in good shape. If the seal went out because the shaft is moving around you have more serious issues.

i looked up your drive motor on the case i-h website looks like the motor is part number d137338 as the new part number, but it is no longer available from case i-h. i did locate a replacement motor, here is a link, about 1200. heres a link
