Oliver history items?

A JD engineering supervisor told me that Oliver had the first independent PTO.
A while back, this board told me that Hart Parr had the first two cylinder engine.
I worked with an engineer who said Oliver had developed an electric over hydraulic system. Never found out if it was offered to the public.
I think Oliver was the earliest in "styling".
Anyone have better information? Thanks Leo

Oliver did have a electric over hydraulic system. They made a lot of them. I don't know when it was started. They had them, I think from the
mid fifties through the late 60's. I'm not sure about independent PTO, I thought Cockshutt had the first live PTO.

Oliver had the electric control of the hydraulic unit when the hydraulic unit became first available in 1949/1950. Hart Parr did have 2 cylinder tractors when they first started building tractors as did other manufactures such as the Famous Oil Pull tractors. You have other questions?

Oliver was first with a live PTO ? but if you think back a long ways. Hart Parr had a live power set up on a few of there tractor models. There is a Hart Parr at the Charles City Museum on desplay that has the Live P T O. .
This should get a few people all stirred up , as H -P is not Oliver. But related.

WELL Hart-Parr was the predecessor to Oliver. So Hart-Parr wasn't the same tractor but the company was the same and Hart-Parr wasn't made after Oliver was peoduced.

That,s not true, Deere let others make a lot of new things. then they would by out the best of the group like Van brunt grain drills Dane hay equipment and many others

I believe Oliver had developed independent PTO before the war,but the war, then a strike right after, held up production,so Cockshutt came out with it in Canada before Oliver did in the US.

Coop had an independent PTO on the Model C built before WWII but it was powered off the front of the engine with 2 heavy V belts to a shaft along the left side of the tractor to the back where it was hooked up with a clutch and moved to center of tractor. They also made that tractor with standard PTO and most were that way. The ones with standard still had the place at the front for those V belts. I have seen a few of these. It was a low 20's PTO HP tractor with a row crop front. Only made a couple of years till the war put a stop to production.
