any one out there had a stroke

Well I had a massive one on October 17 and it went from my toenails to my hairline on my left side. I was pretty sick for awhile and then went to rehab and now i am home walking and moving around . I believe in divine power so He gave me some more time here. Things are slow on the weak side and still have a ways to go but I hope I can operate a tractor by spring and take care of my yards. It happened on the last day of our big tractor fair so I hope it won't be my last one . Just needed to vent so Thanks for listening to my story. James

I had one three years ago right side. It has been slow but I am getting back to normal.Got on a diet lost some weight. One thing to watch out for. The
meds they give you. Could make things worse. The ones they gave me were worse than the problem. Dizzy, hard to breath, could barely walk. Take your meds
just watch out for any bad reaction. Doc finally took me off of mine and I am feeling better than I have in a long time

havent had a stroke, but had a widowmaker heart attack about 4 years ago. good to hear you are on the mend. it takes a while to get back in the saddle. my first year i wasnt worth a dip, and the meds kept you doped up and the blood thinners made you bleed like crazy. pretty much getting back to where i was before, but not 100%. hang in there!!!!

Had one over 10 years ago. I was very fortunate in that I did not have any idea what had happened, and did not visit ER until 3rd day. Spent 3 days in hospital, no real issues since, but I did have to do
some rehab due to speech, and short term memory. Back to work in about 3 weeks, and been at it since (Dr. advised me to get back at it as quickly as I could, and was good advise).

25 Years ago I lost left side, slurred speech, & balance. Do not mess around, you have small window to recover. PT you have to go a mile to gain an inch. Ever thing is a hassle but you need to try harder!!!!
Do not let anyone tell you can't.

I had one when I was 27. I have a bad heart valve and a piece broke off and caused a blockage. No pain. I had friends over that night (the 8th
of October). I felt a little odd and things sounded funny. I opened my mouth to tell them something was wrong and couldn't speak. It was my
dominant side - right. My motor came back fairly quick within the next couple of months but my memory was severely impaired. I would make a
plate at dinner time and lose it before I sat down to eat. I would start to say something and forget what I was going to say half way through the
sentence.

My short term memory is still a little funky. When I play board games I have to count the dots on the dice each time as the pattern doesn't mean
anything anymore (they call it subitizing). When I am asked to spell something I get a G and Q mixed up verbally although I can write it out
perfectly.

I was one lucky kid. That was 15 years ago. I told my folks I was glad it was me as I had no children to worry about me and I was younger than
them so I recovered most of my faculties pretty quick. I take pills everyday to keep my blood pressure very low so no more pieces come off of
that valve. Someday I will have it replaced when it fails more seriously.

James,

I'm really sorry to hear about your fate, but wish you the very best and as speedy recovery as possible.

Sincerely,

Mark

I'm pulling for you, hope you get better quickly and watch out for prescribed drugs; what Billy Shafer said!

James, glad to hear you are doing better.

Are you having any trouble recognizing things on both sides of your vision?

ust a little side vision but that is comming backbut I got a limp and the muscles on my left side of my back are weak. Got to work out each day and hope for the best. Thanks for caring as most on this site act as if they really do care.

Wife had her second one we think Friday night in the night. Got up Saturday morning and went to walk and she kept wanting to fall to the right. Then she kept biting the right side of her tongue. By Saturday afternoon the right side of her face went numb. She was already on blood thinner because of the last stroke 15 years ago. Went to the doctor Monday and he increased her blood thinner. Trying to get her use to using a walker. Chores is all I get done right now, then back to the house.

I have had a hard time finding a good dentist since my long time retired and left the area. Couple of years ago found another, middle aged
dude. Get the word the other day he dropped dead of a heart attack. Nurse/receptionist said that he wasn't taking his medicine because he
"wouldn't go to the doctor" so he had no prescription. Big surprise to everyone. Now I have to go looking again. Too many out there right out
of school with big new offices and lots of new equipment to be financed. Fillings are things of the past. Now the least you get is a crown.

Well, I saw the nuerologist yesterday for the first time since I had the Bleed. He read the cat scans and told me they looked better than He expected. He dismissed me for now and told me to keep on with my PT at home and walk as much as I can . I asked about the Limp and He said walk it out so I guess I know what I gotta do now. Life is Good an y'all have a Merry Christmas.
