IH 756 Repower

Hi everyone; I have an IH 756 with a D-310 diesel that has spun a rod bearing. The local salvage yard has a D-358 out of a 1420 combine that is relatively low hours. (under 3000). He says it should fit. I am wondering if anyone has done this if so what needs to be changed? The rest of the tractor is in good shape despite having 10k+ hrs. But still makes a good yard tractor.

I'm pretty sure the only difference between the D310 and D358 is the height of the block. I think you might have to put a dent in the fuel tank so that it will clear the valve cover.

Other than that it will bolt right in, using external parts from the D310.

What of the hood and frame rails? Are they the same length?826 longer? I have both 707(310) and a 826(D358).I should go measure.
