Hey jd seller - seat

I've got a 4440 that has the gas ride seat. I think it's nitrogen or something but it's probably been 20 years since it had to be recharged. All I remember is that it's a gas and not a common one on the farm.

Could I put that entire system - pedestal and all - in an 86 series IH tractor? I've looked at air ride but I'd have to install an electric compressor anyway.

I put a new air ride with self contained compressor in my magnum this fall. Replaced the hydraulic seat, 900 bucks lock stock and barrel from Mcconnell

I'm not JD Seller BUT the seat in a Newer Generation tractor such as a 4440 has a hyd controlled seat with a nitrogen filled accumulator that acts as shock absorber. I'm not sure this seat that was designed to operate on closed center hyd system will function properly on an open center hyd system such as your 86 series IHC.

I agree with Eric that you would be better satisfied with an air ride seat.

notjustair: Txjim has it nailed the JD hydraulic suspension seat will not work with the open center IH system. You say you have an IH 86 series tractor. They offered that tractor with a hydraulic ride seat. Is yours a mechanical seat or a hydraulic one that has gone bad??? If you just have the mechanical seat you could look for a good IH hydraulic seat system. I would just go with a new air ride one myself. A good IH seat system would be almost as much as the new complete seat with some help from a selling dealer. (Hint) LOL

I am a dealer for K&M. I can get an complete air ride seat for not too bad a price. Email me an I can tell you the price. Dealer list is $1122. I will be way under that for a fellow YT poster. I also think your in Iowa just western Iowa. So freight is not bad out of MN on these seats. They are very good quality and there kits fit without a lot of monkeying around.

The cost of a complete seat is not cheap but compared to doctoring your back it would be much cheaper.

The implement dealer? I've never been real hip on McConnell. I always feel like they rake me over on parts worse than Heritage Deere. I am about five miles from them (Ottawa branch), though. I'm pretty picky about a seat. Any regrets?

Yes all you have to do is hook up a 12 volt supply wire and aground wire. I would need to know the exact model and if your tractor has a mechanical or hydraulic ride factory seat. The mounting base is different. Here is the specs of the one I think would work well for you. You can also add a seat swivel for around $175. That helps me as much as the softer ride in that I can turn the seat to watch the hitch or equipment easier on my stiff neck.

Yes, from the dealer. I'll agree that they're parts prices are a bit steep. The seat I bought they had in stock at Lawrence. I'm happy with it.
