Tractor hauler starter question.

Had some problems with the starter on my 1991 chevrolet K1500. It has a Delco starter on it.

What I want to know is when I am testing with my ohm meter, it is seeing continuity, between 2 and 5 ohms between every bar on the armature. Is this correct? None of the bars are shorted to the shaft.

I was thinking there should be only continuity between 2 opposite bars and all the rest should show open circuit. Which is correct? Thanks!

They should all have continuity with each other. The ones 180* apart will have a different value, but all will be inter connected. A good indication of a bad armature will usually be a discolored bar, heat discolored winding, or the solder melted from around the commutator connections.
