Turn Buckles?!

Where do I buy turnbuckles? I think that is what they are called. I bought a 3point hitch for my Farmall M, and it had two of them on it, that were bent badly. Well, we managed to straighten them, but the threads are trashed, and I can't get one of them freed up...... I am just walking away at this point, I've spent close to 5 hours working on the stupid things, probably could have made enough money to buy two new ones in that time!

I tried Co-op, North 40, and John Deere locally, and no one has, or can order what I need?!!?!? I thought these things were really common??

Anyone know where I can find them?

What is nice about McMaster Carr is usually delivery next day if ordered before 4pm.

if your talking about the small ones that limit horizontal movement I have gotten them from home depot and TSC

I suspect every thrid party manufaturer of those add on 3ph hitches developed their own geometry, so you will have to match up what you can find to what you need. There is no standard.

A lot of fleet and farm stores still have so,e linkage parts that fit Ford N tractors, and a few have generic parts that fit multiple import tractors. You might find something.

Uhm, I think he's talking about a 3pt third arm. Those shouod be avaioable at any fleet or farm store or where ever machinery is sold..

bryce if you are looking for the turnbuckles that control side to side movement on the hitch, they are called adjustable side links. google 3 point hitch side links and the suppliers will come up.

Not necessarily, jon--there are several places for turnbuckles on a 3-point, particularly one that was added later, and he did mention there are two on his that are giving him trouble. If we have a few more details, I'm sure we can help him out--as others have mentioned, TSC and several other places often have in-stock hitch pieces, but in order for us to take more than a general stab at it, we'll need some more info. Length, diameter, types of ends, etc. are all things he's going to need to know before buying one, especially if he does it online. I'm sure we've all went in a store, plopped something on the counter, and been told "we don't stock those and can't get them" by a counterperson too lazy or uninformed to be bothered to look, but with the Internet I'm sure he'll be able to find something usable once he knows what questions to ask. Is there any chance of getting a picture?

You can make your own by useing Category one top links.Simply cut off the ball on one or both ends and weld on what you need to make it fit.

Well to start with you need to know what you need and how to explain what you need so we can help you better.
There is the adjustable center ling which I have used a true turn buckle for
Then there are the adjustable links that go to the lift arms which I think your talking about but not sure. If your talking about the adjustable arms that hook to the 3 point lifts arms most good farm and home stores sell them, if your talking center links again most good farm and home stores have them plus most will have true turn buckles

Easy on the young fella, young fella! :) "Where do I buy turnbuckles? I think that is what they are called" he told us right out of the gate that he wasn't sure what to call them and was looking to you for help.

I believe that you are looking for the lift arms that raise the 3 point arms. They are often available from stores such as Tractor Supply and others that sell after market tractor parts. I buy mine wholesale from A&I but I am a dealer. You might try Agri Supply which has online catalog. Shoups may also have all the parts that you need. Happy farming.

Okay, sorry for the confusion! There are two of them.

They are the pieces that connect the LIFT ARMS, to the DRAFT ARMS ( I think those are the proper names?)

Any hitch I have ever seen just has ONE adjustable one, on the right side (for leveling plows, blades, etc.) and then a fixed length / solid one on the left. This hitch has one on each side. Is that necessary? I am thinking that unless they are cheap enough, I will just make a fixed length one for the left hand side, and then buy a new adjustable one for the right hand side.

They are threaded into each end, one left hand, one right had.

Didn't see if you posted the make and model of your tractor. Usually the dealer will have the proper replacements.

Bryce: Look at the link John730D posted--I believe that's what you're describing. However, your ends may or may not be the same size or type. Do you have a Tractor Supply near you? I'm sure they're available other places as well, but this might help you narrow your search.

Bryce Post a picture of your hitch. It just about ahs to be an after market three point for your "M". As they never had them from the factory. The fact yours has adjustable lift links on each side kind of points that way. There where many makers of these after market three point hitches. So by seeing yours we will be able to give you better ideas on where to find some new ones.

730D was close! I went to the link, and saw this on the right side of the page. This is near identical to what I need! I am going to CDA (town an hour away) tomorrow to get my new truck, and they have one of these stores, so I will swing in and see if they have 2 of them! $40 isn't great, but probably not that out of line either.... Thanks so much!

Keith, just east of Portland. Got a couple of things that Bryce could use. E-mailed him my number once. Never called.

Bryce, 12 miles south of I-84 in Damascus. Right on your way to see your girl. When did she move? Thought she lived close to you?

You e-mailed me? When? I never got it? I was hoping to hear from you about that rear axle for my C60.

Casey moved down almost 2 months ago. She has been accepted into college at CoosBay, so she is doing a Criminal Justice program there. Finishing her GED this year, and will be starting on college next fall. She is coming in on the train Monday morning for a week, so I am very excited to see her!

Bryce e-mail me your number and I will call you. Still have that rearend for you if interested. Hate to scrap things if somebody can use it.
