For Chex-Mix. Just made 4 1-gallons bags. I double the seasoning mix and
alos use the oven method like my family has done for decades. We love
this stuff!

Anyone else make it for the holidays?

Yep, the bride just assembled the ingredients today. She makes 2 of those aluminum turkey roasters full - just barely makes it to the New Year !

Yeppers - we like Chex Mix (I do use more garlic and reduce the salt somewhat for us).

I'll try to remember to post a recipe for Seasoned Oyster Crackers... some of you may like them. It's a recipe my MIL found a few years ago. She's taken big batches to church and it always disappears very fast.

Maybe you could tell us your recipe? We buy it in the store, never thought making it. Probably better homemade.

6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 cups Corn Chex cereal
3 cups Rice Chex cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup bite-size pretzels
1 cup bagel chips

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. In an ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in the oven. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir in chex cereals, mixed nuts, pretzels, and bagel chips until coated. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels until cooled. Store in an airtight container.

Thanks Greg, Looks like we will give it a shot! This week when shop will pick up what we don't have. Tom

greg1959,

Found it...

ZESTY OYSTER CRACKERS (recipe from my MIL)

1 pkg oyster crackers

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 pkg powdered Hidden Valley Original Ranch mix (I only use half to three-fourths of the package or it gets kind of salty)

Garlic powder to taste (we like a fair amount... probably a 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon)

Dill weed to taste (we like a lot of dill weed... I probably use at least 3 teaspoons).

Mix the oil and the seasonings together.
Pour over crackers and let them soak it up.
Spread crackers on baking sheet/cake pan.
Bake at 250 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes... stir them a couple of time while baking.

SweetFeet- Thanks! Some co-workers use to bring that in back in the 1980's. I really liked it. The dill made it super good.

Thanks again.
