Right now I am paying $14.95 per month as a bank fee. Am I getting ripped off? For that money i get a credit card with no annual fee. What do you pay for banking service? thx.

I keep a minimum in the acc't , but all services are free. I think even
the checks are free.

No fee, includes a no-fee credit card. No minimum balance. Only thing I pay for is checks. Yes, you are getting ripped off.

I pay like $3 a year or something stupid for my Credit Union account?? But that is a credit card (if I wanted one) savings acct, checking acct, and debit card, all for that $3 a year.

I might have a minimum, but no fee. I have to pay for checks. 4 banks between my wife and I, we like to spread it around but it's pretty thin!

Got a credit union acct. no fees,
The bank that has our business accts. has started charging a % if we deposit too much cash, say they have to pay someone to count it. We are going to change but need to get the merchant accts. switched first

That's almost $180 per year for a "no fee" credit card...I've got Bank of America and Chase no fee credit cards. As for banking, I have to buy my checks but pay no service charges, account maintenance fees or check processing fees. I suggest you get busy and shop around.

I agree with the Credit Unions; BUT... even they are starting to charge fees! I had a checking account with one that sent me a survey in the mail, & then sent a letter & said "Based on the Survey results we are going to make exciting changes based on the survey!" The changes were fees going from $0 to $6 per month for my checking account, & no new Fixed Rate Credit Cards! They have done everything they can think of to get me to change my credit card to a Variable rate card. I changed the checking to another Credit Union with $0 in fees. The Credit card will remain as long as I have no fees on it! I still have a savings account with them too; but only because its required to have the Credit Card. Still at 8.9% the new Credit Union is 9.9%.

You can negotiate with them. I'm at Wells Fargo and pay nothing for checks, credit card; even a safe deposit box. Of course, I have good credit, too. I have NO Loans with them, so I'm not sure why so many here are paying for something that ought to be free, especially if you DO have a Loan.

I sort of get charged a monthly fee but then they pay it back to me on the same day. Same bank a few years ago would not give me a loan when I wanted to buy a car but now after the insurance company gave me a loan the bank has given me 2 credit cards which I have not used yet and have had one for a few years and the other I got this summer.

I have paid dime one for banking. Only thing
I pay for is to have check printed. NEVER
paid for overdraft, because my savings
account protects two checking accounts. Need
to find a better bank if they charge a fee.

No fees, not for checks, chashiers checks and I don't think for a money order. None at all but I am 73 so that might make a difference. And I get email statement every day of the year. And the Bank is open 7 days a week, only 3 hours on Sunday but still open. You guys that hate Walmart so bad could never get to my bank tho as they are in the Walmart stores. No safty deposit box but I don't need that.

I refuse to pay an annual fee to have a credit card and I have many. Instead I use cards that pay me money back and I make a lot of money on CC. Never once paid interest on CC either because all my CC are auto paid from checking on the day they are due. CC companies pay me to use them.

No fee's on my personal account BUT they ream me good on a business account. They came up with service fee's a few years ago and in the last few mounts started charging a fee on deposits. Its only been 3/4cents per deposit but were do they go from there.

If your credit is good you can get all the credit cards you want FREE of any annual fee's...

Before you tell them that make sure you have another lined up just in case. Shop around first.

We have several accounts with banks and credit unions. Generally speaking, credit unions will charge a buck or two monthly maintenance fee, but most will drop that fee if you have direct deposit and/or go to paperless statements.

Most credit unions issue no-fee credit cards with reasonable interest rates.

I manage an LLC that only needs to write one or two checks monthly. For that, we have a "Business Economy Checking" account with Bank of America. As long as there is at least $3000 in the account the monthly service charge is waived. The number of checks per month is limited, not sure the number. (Whether or not this deal is available outside Michigan or to new customers I don't know.)

Take a look at the banking services you have available locally. If you can join a credit union, that's almost always going to be your best bet. But if you need a business account you'll probably have to go with a bank. There's a wide variation in the fee structures at various banks, and the one that initially seems the cheapest may not be.

If you don't need to make cash deposits, you might be able to get by with an online-only bank, like Ally.

We pay no fees but we have to maintain a minimum balance, which we have no trouble doing. We have a couple of CC's that pay us money back, but generally speaking, I tend not to fret about the small dollar stuff, whether it's worrying that I'm paying a few cents more at the gas pump or whether I just bought groceries for a few bucks more because I didn't go to the cheapest place around. Life's too short and as long as I've got it to spend, I'm ok. But.... it might be a whole different story when I retire next year.

It's funny to watch my daughters who make very good money as attorneys spend their dough. Their motto is "if you have a problem, throw money at it".

We have 3 checking accounts at a bank that charges no checking fees.
We have about 6 credit cards that are 0% interest. You might ask how do I do that? Answer is simple: pay off all charges at the end of each month!!!!! I get tickled when I get calls to lower my interest rates when I play them along and then tell them that I pay 0% and if they could really lower that? Some of the idiots actually call me back again, to get same response from me. SWMBO sez I am perverted, and she is probably right!!

I haven't paid a bank fee since 1982. Even my credit card pays a percent back to me for every dollar spent. I have several accounts at different financial institutions and receive free accident life insurance at each one.

It is not how much money you make; It is how you spend it.

Ben Franklin said every dollar you saved on a purchase is like having earned that dollar.
