John Deere 467 vs NH BR 7060

Been looking at a couple round balers at local JD dealer. They've got a 467 with 7500 bales 2003 model and a NH BR 7060 with 5600 bales 2009 model. They are about the same price but was wondering which is a better baler. I've used John Deere balers and never had a problem and neighbors have a NH that works great as well. Any input helps. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

We bought a new 7060 in 2010. It has been an excellent baler, my first baler of my own. Low maintenance and very easy to use. Will take large windrows easily

My 1st JD 467 I bought new had 30,000 bales on it when I traded it for the '05 467 that now has 23,000+ bales. Both balers gave very few problems. IMHO 467 are some of JD's best rd balers.

NH balers I've been told have a lot more ft of roller chain than JD rd balers with some of the chain on NH being double wide roller chain.

Can't and won't speak against the NH Baler as I know little about them. Having serviced and run JD Balers for over 20 years has shown me a lot of things to like in a Deere. Relativly simple, great capacity, durable. The 20,000 to 30,000 bale life is an attainable figure.

I had a 644, which is somewhat older than the 7060,which I bought new. It had well over 30,000 bales through it when it caught fire here about a month ago, but is much the same baler. Both of the main drive chains on it were original, and had received a daily dose of chain lube. I took the insurance money and just bought a used 459 with twine and netwrap. I haven't used it yet, but it was a used baler with 1300 bales through it and is a 2914 model, so I guess I can give a second opinion in a few years. The JD does seem to have less chain but also appears to be more complicated than the NH. One thing about NH, most every thing on it was very simple, and it had one of the best tie systems in the auto tie needles of any. With few exceptions, it rarely missed and was very quick- so quick that a neighbor had trouble keeping even with a netwrap JD. Either one, though, I feel is a topline machine.

With netwrap I can easily bale 25% more hay than I could using twine. How far apart were the twine spaced on bale utilizing your NH baler? Netwrap only requires 2 bale revolutions to complete the cycle. 8 seconds to wrap & eject a bale then start another bale with my 467

467 no doubt. The 7060 is a 4x5 and the 467 is a 4x6. If you plan on making 4x5, the 467 is the way to go. You never push it to the limit. Don't buy a 457. Different hinge system that is known to fail. A 467 could fail too, but if you only make 4x5 bales, it will be dead reliable. The Deere is also so heavy built and has a stuffing rotor which starts straw bales very easily.

I also vote for the Deere. I don't know much about the NH and they probably are a good baler. In my case the JD dealer is so far ahead of the NH dealer. Normally I won't say anything positive about a JD but their baler is as good as it gets IMO.
