my 74? ford 3 cyl diesel needs power steering fluied and they dont make what the book calls for any more....can i use the stuff in the yellow bucket from TSc?....how full do i fill it (no stick but metal plate inside fill hole)thank you much

I use DOT 3 in my '52 oliver. said to "meet or exceed the standards of previous versions". Some call for ATF though, but I'd imagine most non-compressing liquids so long as they don't foam and are the proper viscosity should work.

Dunno what's in the yellow bucket.
Look for universal tractor fluid (UTF)
It will say "meets or exceeds Ford 134D specs" on the label.
Same stuff you use in the transmission, rear end and hydraulic system. One jug or pail to keep onhand for topping off when needed. Amazing huh?
Is your reservoir under the hood -kinda behind the valve cover? Has a little dangly metal dip stick on it?
If so your tractor is older than 1974.
I think they did away with that style PS pump - seperate pump and reservoir - about 69 or so.
New style pump has integral pump/reservoir.

Not heard of using brake fluid in a power steering or transmmission system. Use tractor rated hydraulic fluid...
