I have a 2008 new holland T6040 elite and am having problems with the hydraulic system overheating. I can only run a baler or any other implement for about 3 hours before the tractor overheats. When I am only running the tractor with no implements it will last about 5 hours before overheating. Changed hydraulic oil and filters with no change. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. Im a fairly competent mechanic and would like to try my hand before we send it to the shop.
thanks

Hi,we have a t6 165 that I think is basically the
same tracto far as I know? Does the pump sound to
be under load when there is nothing attached? If
your service department is half as good as ours
they could give you suggestions over the phone as
where to start. It might be as simple as a stuck
selenoid?

Over heating of hyd oil indicates a leaking relief valve. Is 3 pt hitch control valve going into neutral when fully raised IE try lowering 3 pt a little bit. Does your tractor have an oil cooler & if so is it clean?

Your pump is not unloading and running the oil over pressure relief. At the dealer
here the easy fix was a new pump. If you wiggle the hydraulic leavers you
should be able to hear the pump load and unload by the sound of the engine.
