Well bummer!

Just had a guy here to buy a old woods finish mower I had for sale. He talked me down $50 less less then I really wanted to sell it for but he was starting out in the world of tractor so I let him have it. Went over to start the 2n to load it on his trailer. Didn't want to start as it's 20 some degrees out. Tried a little bit and something with the starter drive must have went as I started hearing grinding but it wouldn't turn over. So I gave up on that and got the 961 going and loaded it on his trailer, he thanked me, paid me, and drove off. Started putting things back for the night and realized, he had my new 3pt top link and pins with him. $50 of pins and top link isn't gonna be the end of the world but it made the difference between profit or not. Tomorrow I get to pull the starter and see what happened on the 2n. Just put a new bendix on it a couple weeks ago.

Things in this world always seem to come back around when you do some one good.I wouldn't worry to much about it some day you will come out on top

I did the same thing one time when I sold a tractor. Left a top link and pins on it by mistake. I knew he was close by because he dove it home. The next day I went looking and found his place. He was already out working and had a box scraper on it and was fixing his driveway. I stopped and he was so tickled and having so much fun that I couldn't bring myself to tell him I screwed up and wanted the top link back. He offered me a beer and we sat on the scraper and shot the breeze for a while and I left. Oh well. That was probably 15 years ago and he still has that old model B Deere and uses it often. On a quiet day I can hear it running when he is pushing snow.

Around here a top link is usually expected with any tractor.

Really??? I bought and sold a lot of
tractors and implements over the years
and never got or expected a toplink with
a tractor and only once did one come
with an implement and I think that was
just cause the people had no tractor or
anything to use it with so just threw it
in with dad's old brushog

Toplinks rarely come with the tractor. Some idiot years ago decided to start pulling them off and selling them separate. Every Deere tractor sold with three point came with a toplink from the factory but now they cost $150. That said I have sold dozens of them over the years and enjoyed that extra $150 profit or if customer was on the fence a little about buying I would throw in a toplink (more than likely the one I took off that tractor) to seal the deal.
