Tractor Prices down!

Didn't go Today; but saw all these a couple of days ago. Prices posted on Collins Equipment annual auction. I came out about where I was hoping; but I don't think most did! I had a well equipped,, clean JD 3055 that sold for $22,500. There was a nice 1972 4020 D cab sell for $7700. A nice 4450 FWA, PS sold for 24,500. JD Late model A for $1050, Late B for $1000, Nice Farmall M at $1000. JD 4640 FWA at $16,500, & a 2wd at $13,000. & many other bargains too many to list.

Unless you're independently wealthy or hobby buying then you have to justify the cost of the machine by how much money it can make for you,so with today's farm product prices those tractors probably bought pretty good.

they have been soft for a couple yrs ,. especially for non /deer ,. great time to snatch up a bargain ,. idont mind putting tires on a strong runner,,. beatsdthe heck out of going all around tires on a modern computer tractor,. then discover tranny issues, wiring and computer issues, worx perfect sometimes . no hydraulics , then perfect hydraulics confusion ,.. you get it I am sure ..

If you're buying to flip you certainly have to be very careful with what all you'll be putting into them. For use it comes down to the value of utility. A brand new tractor sure would be nice for my start up farm, but they aren't getting cheaper! Bought a Farmall 460 gas for $300. Needs tires and according to the seller, needs resleeved (haven't tore into it yet myself). They were going to scrap it! With other odds and ends I'll probably end up with around $3k into it, which is what the tractor is worth though I'll know what I have. But, it beats a $30k tractor for me right now! I don't have enough income to use the tax brakes. It's a good time to start a collection or get cheap usable power for new folks like myself. I may not be making money, but I'm saving a bunch AND I haven't lost any in value should I decide to upgrade.

Tractors don't make me money, they just make less work for me to manage the yard, so I'm good with the low prices.

I bought my ferguson To30 for $800 and worked it to death. Without it I'd have never accomplished what I did. Same for my oliver TLB I bought for $2300. It's nice to have a good sized yard, but you need to the tools to keep it up or you'll work yourself to death. I could buy a $16k do it all machine like a lot of people around here but I'd rather do a bit of maintenance and save a good chunk of money.

I've noticed tractor prices going down here too and I hope it continues for a while. I still need a good loader tractor so I've been keeping an eye on the sale ads in my area.

Sooner or later I'll find one at a price my Scottish blood can live with.

I'm with you on the tractors,I have a David Brown 1200 I bought this year for $250 at an auction nice tractor except it needs crank work, been looking for a motor if I can't find one
I'll tear into this one.
