Speaking of being careful................

Wife was helping me split wood today. She slipped and fell towards the splitter and got her finger caught between the block of wood and the backing plate. I reversed the ram as quickly as I could react, but she got pinched badly. Finger isn't broken, (we think) but lotsa blood and some torn hide. She bandaged it up and went back to work. She's kinda sore tonight. Says she can feel every heartbeat......................

She's holding her hand and she says d@#%$# it! That's my trigger finger!!!!!! She wasn't happy with herself. Told her she will have to use her middle finger instead and lay the index finger on the stock. She laughed and said if she gets a deer in her sights, she figure out a way.

Elevate. It stops the throb as bad. Keep it above heart level. Got left index finger smashed bad when I was 17. Nothing broke, but like her I felt every heart beat for a couple days. Was too messed up to sew it. Doc just wrapped with gauze and sent me on my way after a good scrub. Wish her well.

Seen that happen a guy had his kid running the hydraulic and he was putting in the wood. He wasn't as lucky as your wife he's missing a finger.
Just out of curiosity did you wash your wife's mouth out with soap for using bad language?

Just thought of something when working on the barn a guy mashed his thumb real bad we talked him into applying Dr Naylor antibiotic bag balm we thought we were playing a fast one but the joke was on us when he showed up the next day and the thumb was ok.

Farmerwithmutt, I looked up Dr. Naylor and was surprised they are still in Morris New York. I used Dr. Naylor bag balm on my farm and didn't know it was used nation wide. Morris is a pretty small town and not that far from me.

This guy should of been more careful. He fell asleep driving this pit Truck at night in a Quarry next to my Asphalt plant

I've had a may a smashed finger. if the throbbing continues and the finger is swollen it could have a hematoma the blood built up and causing pressure and you need to release it. I've had to drill a small hole in the finger nail or a needle poke in the finger. It hurts at first but when the pressure is released it feel a lot better

Mashed my trigger finger in an on the job accident about 20 yrs ago. It gets cold before the others, and when they start to get cold, the trigger finger gets numb.

I can certainly vouch for that. Cut off my index finger at the first joint and have the same problem. Doesn't have to be very cold to feel it either.

Since we are posting pics of guys falling asleep behind the wheel of a haul truck, here is one from the mine I worked at, he jumped the rock berm and rolled it down a hill, he came out okay, but lost his job! LOL Not a great pic, it is a 740 Cat cab upside down and box right side up.

Seems like so many folks are getting hurt this week after the Full Moon. Hope your wife feels better soon. Get her checked out with an x-ray while they can still set it if it's broke.

I looked up the census last night and I think it was less than 5000 people. They have the Otsego County fair and was the last time I was there. Home of the Linn truck, tractor and trailer company. I looked that up last night and found a really informative article. They had built a new building in Oneonta and the owner was killed in a plane crash.
